Average, at best.
I agree, to a point....to be considered better than average he’s got to show that he can shred away, which he doesn’t really do. At that time it was a requirement, like it or not. In that sense he reminds me of Mick Mars, another ‘limited’ player.Kidkramer71":3sx3szu2 said:My opinions have changed over the years.
Before I would have said meh he is just another average player.
But there is much more to guitar then shredding !
He has killer riffs that are memorable, good tone, and does not overdue it.
I think he has good phrasing as well.
I mean metal health is iconic for sure !
This song did more for hard rock then many acknowledge.

But he and Mick absolutely were a part of some iconic songs and no one can take that away.
Okay maybe that's a bit extreme but don't you have to have the chops in the early-mid 80s to be considered 'really good'? I just don't consider him to be even close to the same league as a ton of other guys from the LA or Cali scene back then, sorry. That doesn't take away from his contributions in all the great songwriting he did.UltraGary":2fte3njj said:Racerxrated":2fte3njj said:I agree, to a point....to be considered better than average he’s got to show that he can shred away, which he doesn’t really do. Please tell me you're joking. "shred away"? Damn man....
