Carvin V3m

The distorted sounds seemed a little "dark" to me - almost like everything was being played on the neck pickup. I'm assuming that some knob tweakage could correct that situation, but other than that, I kind of dig it

I agree, he should have done a little tweeking on the lead channel.

Set as it is, there's a sort of Orange vibe, dark and chewy. I would like to hear someone tweak it some and see how much room there is to gain some clarity.

Wonder if its the same sound as the V3, cause that was kinda fizzy

I am going to have to pre-order one. I think it will be perfect for gigs.

If anyone has thoughts or experiance with Carvin, let me know.

Experience in general or something specific?

Customer service, Amps, guitars, everything! I have never bought Carvin before, just want some input from Carvin owners.

Carvin's a great company. Their guitars are stellar and have a great reputation. Their pro audio stuff, well its very consumer based. Their guitar amps, I had a Carvin V3 for a bit. It was decent for high gain, but I couldn't jive with it for anything else.

They have good customer service.

High gain, hard rock is what i'm after. All the research I've been doing, think this will be good! We will see!

They were excellent when I ordered my guitar from them, always asking for input when something was unclear. I got a great guitar, precisely what I asked for. Quicker then estimated delivery too. I also had an x100b bought used. Very good amp. All in all I could recommend Carvin without hesitation.

I'm sorry, but everyone I've ever known to have a Carvin amp, had it break. I can go down a list. In fact, I'm trying to score a broke MTS off a buddy to hot rod, mod, and rebuild.

They do sound good though. My ex-guitarist gigged with an MTS and got a great sound considering we were tuned in drop Ass. His broke and he was using our drummer's MTS (after that was fixed). He is one of 4 people I know who had an MTS die on them. Another buddy had a V3 and loved it, until a resistor blew in it and took out the tubes. He had it rebuilt and is still using it. Another friend of mine had an older X100b that is still dead. He just bought another rig to replace it.

Carvin amps do sound great, and their customer service is pretty decent. However, their reliability just isn't there. That's why I'm trying to get the broken MTS off of another friend. I want to rebuild it with quality parts and hot rod it to sound as good as they do, only made to last longer.
