Castedosa Guitars *_*

so who is the target market?
Fender Freaks and Strat/Tele guys and more traditional players.

As said Ybarras don't grow out of trees or come from thin air and the connection Carlos has to them, the area, his work, the quality and meaning behind what he does and the understanding a real Masterbuilder brings not a lot of others offer.

I mean I don't have the money but a lot of people probably find these special for said reasons and it's not just another cookie cutter boutique S or T type guitar. I'd get one if I could being a Strat guy just based on the heritage/pedigree and the work in general.

Never knew they cost so much or how popular they were but yeah it's not surprising now that I think about it. Just yeah really expensive but really special and awesome gear IMO.

10 grand for a bolt on hipster offset/strat thing? 😬
Not just any Hipster guitar. The Cadillac of hipster guitars *_*

Like sometimes I want a Jagstang or something but I'm like "am I hipster enough"...... what will it take and I'm going to need a cigar, fedora with that too, mandatory cardigan and scarf even when there is no need for one.

It's just too much work IMO to be a hipster but yeah.

I certainly understand nice stuff being expensive

I just don't understand where the expense is coming from for this?

Walla Walla guitars is relatively close to me, and they make "bespoke" crazy hipster bolt ons as well, but they're like 2-4 grand

Which, yeah it's expensive, but it's not insane

I get it's more cowboy than hipster, but same sort of thing right? And they aren't insane priced :dunno: 🤔

I suppose my question is, what's their explanation for 10k?

Yeah hell, I really don't know. I think Carlos does everything out of his house or a small shop. A lot of orders come in more than he can make and that usually already a Masterbuilt Guitar is well north of 5,000$ I imagine and mix in the Ybarra/Fullerton connection.

Not sure what explains it to be honest but people just seem to buy them up as soon as they hit a shop I guess and Carlos can't make them fast enough either.

Also those look sick as hell too *_*

The people who are willing to shell it out and the people who can never afford to buy but defend the price for no real reason.

Yeah I guess i just don't understand - does someone famous use them? Do they sound or feel different?

I don't even have to agree with the reason - you know, like 80s BC Riches, Hamers, and Deans are all super expensive now because they're collectible or whatever. It's kind of dumb, but at least a reason exists - even if it's kind of dumb.

With the castedoodie or whatever it's called I don't understand what the provenance or reason is for the expense

Ha, I saw this thread yesterday when it had zero posts. I still consider myself ~newish~ here so didn't post. But yeah, this thread went exactly like I'd expect it to lol.

Hey it's not for everyone but it's not so bad and pretty cool. A lot of guys seem to buy them up as soon as they hit the shops so maybe there is something to it.
