...Anything I need to tell him about biasing, etc?

I don't know much on the tech side so opinions are welcome!

Dude - buy yourself a Weber Bias Rite (or similar tool) and be done with the tech for biasing. It pays for itself quickly and allows you to experiment with power tubes as much as you want. It really is THAT easy to use. It's a great investment.

I actually do plan to do this, but I don't plan on learning on a $3,500 CCV. I know it's easy and the tech is going to do that right in front of me for free so there's no real harm.

I'm happy to pay my tech $40 bucks to take the Zap for me.

From other posts regarding the bias on CCV, it seems that the strength is in the plates.

People have recommended 525-545 volts on the plates, or 45-48 ma/mv.

I put SED's in mine, and it sounds much better.

I prefer my CCv to be biased colder...around 60-65%. I use a bias rite these days. Safer than just using a meter.
Is that on high power Dave? So you bias to approx. 29 ma.? In low power it would drop to maybe 20 which is very cold, No?

Yes, I bias on high power which is around 565 volts. I have to check my sheet for the exact mA's.
Cool. Let me know. I'll try it based on my pv which is lower than whta you are getting. Does your house put out over 120 ac?

Please set up a video camera so we can see the Tech's face and hear his response when you tell him you want the SED's biased at 45mA with 565V plate. This will blow his mind......

HAHA. I've warned him that the CCV runs very high plate voltages and that the bias settings might seem odd to him. I'll probably give Mark a shout too, maybe he won't mind talking to my guy if need be...

From what I gather, the trannies are impedance tuned to control the screen voltages and allow the high PV's/current.
