Hey Guys,

Thought I would share some info that was real helpful that Dave sent me on setting up the CCV. I will leave it as a sticky here to help the owners of CCV's.

The high power/ Low power switch is just that. High is around 525 volts and low should be around 425-450. High should make the amp tighter and low should add a little bit of sag and bottom.

The punch is basically a resonance knob. The switch above changes the tone of the resonance. Center is off, the left is slightly darker, but adds a tiny bit of gain and feel. The right is darker yet and really smooth.

The presence is normal. The switch above changes the brightness. Center is normal/off, left is slightly dark and right is very dark. Use the presence and punch switches together for a really cool tonal variety. Carl Roa really loved both switches to the right with low power. It made the CCV more Bogner like...but with a lot more gain.

The gain pots all have switches. These switches add in a capacitor which adds gain. Center is off, left is the brightest(most gain) and right is less bright (mid gain). Remember that the higher the knob is turned up, the less noticable the switches become. Keep this in mind when you set ghe amp for the most saturation (more on that in a few). Since the saturation will be adding gain, this allows you to turn back the gain pots to get a more noticable effect from the switches. You can roll them back to noon and the amp would still have a shit ton of gain

The master volumes have switches. These are the clipping switches that add gain ala Jose Master. The center is no clipping and the amp will be loud and a lot clearer. To the left is mid clipping/gain. To the right is max clipping/gain. Keep in mind that ass you add clipping you are also clipping the signal, so the volume will drop. A cool simple thing to do is, on channel 2, set the master on mid clipping and the solo master on max clipping. This way the amp becomes basically 3 channels. The clipping is the same for channel 1, although it has one less gain stage...hence why it is a little cleaner.

The amp should also have a 3 way switch near the input. This switch changes the voicing on channel 2 only. Center is the least amount of gain. To the right, the sound is mid gain, but the bottom end seems to be really big. To the left is max gain...fucking insane gain. The really cool tung to do is set the switch for mid or low gain and use a pedal. It seems to change the entire amp into something different. I did this with my Stillborn clip. In the room, the amp sounded more Marshall like. I have noticed on low gain settings, this switch seems to add mid range a little bit.

Don't be afraid to set the mids low for a good sound. The Jose sound already has a ton of mids in it.

I am not sure if you have the pentode/triode switch? All that does is lowers the power amp output for bedroom playing...although it does allow for different amp settings for even more cool tones.

As for tubes, Winged C EL34's seem to be the best. The amp also loves Chinese in every spot...although a bunch of us us Ei's in V1 for a killer gain tone.
