I have 2 x 65 creambacks in my cab that I use with my Kingsley head which is a souped up Dumble style head.

They're pretty tight, however, I don't go for the down tuned super distorted chunky tone.

Also, they have tightened up as they got broken in but my guess is that they're more for a moderate distortion vintage vibe & not a modern metal tone.

Yea. I'm wondering whether I should swap them out for some v30's so I can use this cab for gigs and put the Creambacks into the 4x12 with the other two v30's...

I have a cab w/ V30s & they're definitely tighter. However, they also sound brighter & harsher to me as well.

I'm running a pair of Creamback 65's with my Splawn QR 80 in a Soldano 25th Anniversary 2x12. (Designed for the HR 25)
Gives me exactly what I want for my 80's cover band.
I can see where they might not be tight enough for tuned down, more modern sound though.

May want to try the creamback 75s they have a tighter bottom end.

I always liked reg 65's mixed with V30's. 65's are smoother and fat, V30's add the attack and tightness they miss. Mix them in the 4x12.

You're talking about the G12-65; whole different speaker than the Creamback M-65.
I love that combo too; G12-65 top + Vintage 30 bottom.

I did own a Creamback G12M-65 for a while; bought it new. For certain things it's nice, but I found it too nasal with a certain rawness for modern high gain tones. it may be that the Lynchback might behave more what I expected from the Creambacks.
I traded the Creamback + another speaker (I think it was a WGS ET-65) + cash for a pair of pre-Rola G12H30 55Hz's; April/June '71, Pulsonic cone of course.\
Now THAT's a phat sounding speaker. Don't miss the Creamback one bit.

This. In my experience, the 75 is a bit tighter and cuts much better in a mix. One of my favorite speakers ever.

All depends were you sitting or standing when you were playing??

I have them in a couple 2x12's, 1 closed, 1 convertible. I think the looser bottom is their nature, being a higher powered greenback. The V30's will give a tighter chunk.

i have a 4x12 with G12-M65s, for me it does not get modern/punchy enough.... that cab basically just sits brand new, i prefer my V30's. That being said anyone looking to buy a Splawn 4x12 with all 65s? Or anyone want to buy/trade 4 G12-M65s?

do you guys like this combo in X-pattern or Top/bottom for the Creamback 65s/V30s combo in a 4x12?

I listened to a bunch of clips between the 65s and 75s and did quite a bit of reading up on the 2 and went with the 75s because they sound tighter and more open.

I stuck a 65 watt creamback into my Mesa DC5 combo - like it so far, but the DC5 is pretty Mark like in terms of tone so a bit of bass is not a bad thing in this context. I've run my VHT D60 through it too and liked that as well. A DR is pretty bass heavy to start with so I'm not sure this speaker would shine with one of those!

I think that Mesa V30's are pretty hard to beat with a DR TBH!

I love them in my Splawn 2x12's. I did a clip of them with my Mesa F50 but never with my Dual Rec. I will say though, they sounded WAY better than I thought they would with the DR.

This was with my Titan. Low qual recording and also low volume but i liked the tone in the room. The amp had a Recto meets 5150 type vibe.

I just swapped a Creamback H75 for a Creamback M65 in my Small Box combo.

The H75 is the more modern sounding of the two, being tighter in the bottom end and just a touch more "hollow." The M65 really does do the GB thing quite well and is more vintage sounding.

Both are exceptional and sound good, I just prefer the GB mids from the M65...

i am really curious about the creamback 75s... i have my v30s/creamback 65s in a Splawn 4x12 in a X-pattern, i think it sounds great but many have said i should put the v30s on bottom and cream65s on top. i want to try the v30s/cream75s in a x, i think with the added bass it would be killer. any opinions on the creambacks/v30 mixing in a 4x12? x-pattern vs top/bottom?

So...I purchased a small box combo used and it shipped with a 16 ohm creamback 75. I will say my initial impressions were that it was bright and tight. Sounds like a modern speaker to me and i was not super impressed with it through the small box. I ordered a creamback 65 speaker and installed it. It has more of a mid emphasis, less treble and softer bass response even though i like it more than the 75 i feel like a mix of green backs and v 30s would be perfect for the small box. I would say the 75 would be a great fit for a modern sounding amp and the 65 has more vintage appeal. If i had to choose one for a 1x12 it would probably be the 65.
