Celestion G12H30 70th Anniversary

Love the anniversaries. My favorite speaker. Although I use 90’s UK V30’s since they relate better to the masses. Which is important when dialing in amps through them.

I’ve really been debating on putting the H30’s back in my cab. They have a punch and move air like nothing else.

The anniversaries have to be well broken in. I had Jim at Scumback pummel mine on his break in rig for a couple days. They sound fantastic.

Mine are MIC. I’ve heard the newer MIE sound better. But everyone says that just based on where they’re made. Not sure anyone knows for sure.

If I were to buy new, I’d get the MIE’s from Avatar with the break in already done. The Hellatone 30 is what they call it.

I switched from H30s to Redbacks. They have more punch and carry the presence, but bring lows also. I don't know if you have tried them, but I tried them with your Hellion, and it was a pretty badass combination.

Interesting. I did have a pair in a Diezel cab, mixed with V30’s. But never tried them with the Hellion.

I’ve run the Hellion through vented T75’s, which have that large dust cap tone going on and I really liked it.

To me the T75s are really similar to H30 as far as eq, with a lot less of the punch and maybe a little hollowness similar to the k100. The Redbacks will change your life, imho.

I feel like with most speakers you are wanting a little less of something. The Redback killed that for me. Just a balanced speaker that hits the chest.

I really liked the H30 though also. I feel like it mixed with v30s would be pretty cool too.

I can see that if you’re talking about most T75’s, but the vented T75’s he has have a more midrangey sound IME more like a higher powered greenback

I like Redbacks a lot too. The one non-vintage speaker with some place for me

I don’t like the H30’s or H magnet celestions in general besides the redbacks. I actually like the more present highs, but they have that inherent hollow midrange that makes them imo less musical. The H75 and some others are even worse imo

They do punch and move more air than M magnet counterparts, so I get the appeal there, but in the bigger picture I find them to be an awkward middle ground of no man’s land because they lack tone/substance in the midrange vs good example M magnet speakers and for punch/moving air or high end aggression can’t touch any JBL, Fane Crescendo, or Altec 417, so to me they don’t master anything. They do work well though with some amps like the Cameron’s I’ve had and a few others in a similar ballpark, but still not the best those amps can sound IME vs better speakers

Yeah. I missed the vented part. No experience with those

They’re good. For something similar but imo better sounding I prefer the early T3120 version G12-65’s, but won’t use mine much admittedly with some of the other speakers I’m lucky to have

My fav speaker for lower watt 1x12 combos, and 1x12 open back cab. Opens up the sound of a middy, congested sounding amp.
It was the trick in a Deluxe Reverb and Retro King 18 (18w Marshall 1974).
I've also like it mixed with a V30 or GB in a 2x12 cab. I want to get 2 of them to mix with V30s or GBs in a 4x12.
I don't like a GB/V30 mix in a 4x12. I think G12h30 might be the answer.

The WGS Reaper 30 is pretty close.

I think that mixing the annie with either a greenback or a v 30 would be tits
