I have an '85 Carvin 4x12 Cab that is loaded with Celestion G12M-70 speakers. Can anyone tell me about these speakers? Are they considered a good speaker compared to other Celestions? Thanks in advance.

Yes, they came stock in marshall cabs for like 2 yrs in the 80's. i think they are just like the g12 65's but with 5 more watts. I have them in a mid 80's marshall 800 2x12 and like them alot. Many confuse them with g12t75's but I believe they are different.

I bought an old Marshall-style 4x12 cab that had a "Powered by Celestion" badge on it. It contained G12M70 speakers. They were terrible. Thin-sounding, buzzy, reduced volume, lifeless, ridiculous. I did not even bother to sell them. I replaced them with a mix of EV speakers and C90s, and left the G12M70s in my car. Then a few months down the track I sold the car, forgetting that the speakers were in it. When I remembered, I advised the buyer to use the speakers as fridge magnets and throw the cones away.

Came stock in a JMP 2104 combo I had. They sounded horrible IMO.

I have not tried them myself, but more than one person has described them as "like T75s, but worse"...

Many hate them here. I had one 4x12 cabinet that I loaded them in, and I thought they sounded very good. It was a straight front Fender M-80 cabinet from the early 90's. The short clips I did that are on the Voodoo Amps site was with that setup, and a 57.

I got an old Peavey cabinet loaded with these. I actually like them - very articulate but not harsh IMHO.

They sound huge in my Carvin V412 cab, and when I put one in a Bag End ported cab in place of the EV12L, IMO it sounded much better, but I know it may just be the pairing of the amps I'm using, and I dislike the EV's and plan to sell or trading the 2 I currently have. :D

But the G12M70s don't have the clarity of the V30s I have in another cab and will probably be swapped out in favor of that V30 cutting ability. :)

i have them in a rivera ported 2x12 q cab. they're ghastly, as in terrible.

These are by far the worst sounding celestions I have tried.
