Greetings...
I bought an old Marshall 1982B cabinet several years ago that had Celestion G12H 30-Watt Black Back speakers in it. I have never used it, so I'm thinking about selling it. The cabinet is solid, but has ragged Tolex, so it's probably going to have to be a local sale. I have the speakers out and figured I could move those a little easier but don't know how desirable they are or what a fair price would be. I buy stuff - I almost never sell

Here are the details - if anyone can give me an idea of value, that would be great. I'll post a legitimate "For Sale" ad if it seems like they would be desirable...
* All have T1281 frame codes
* Two have been re-coned with #1777 (75Hz) cones and work as they should
* Two have the original #444 (55 Hz) cones, but the voice coil on one is locked-up. The other works fine
* I don't remember which one, but the black cap fell off of one (I have it; it's just not attached...)

(In the interest of full disclosure, I posted a similar thread on GAB but no one responded. I seem to have better luck asking questions here  )

Thanks in advance...

If you find an original cab with no issues I'd say 5-700, so I'd subtract for the recones and the voice coil so maybe 350? You're probably better off selling the speakers individually to make the most cash. I've bought individual creambacks/blackbacks for 80 per speaker in the recent past. I did find an original 1974 1960a with original creambacks for 450 at a GC last month. No recones or other issues, but that's a good price and I'd expect it to be priced more like 700. Ask Jim at Scumback, he's the real expert.

Thanks... I'm hoping he'll chime in. I didn't want to bother him with a personal message...

Regarding the locked up speaker (and Jim at Scumback as well); one of the '70s greenbacks in my cab had low output and no bass. I contacted Jim at Scumback and after some discussion he asked me to gently press down on the cone (even pressure using 4 fingers around dust cap) and see if it moves. He said if it is totally rigid then the magnet shifted and it's major surgery to repair/recone (i.e. it's trash). So I didn't even have to ship him the speaker. Jim was extremely helpful and deserves a shout out just for that.

-the one 55hz BLACKBACK-(that work's)- is your most valuable speaker,....(have you tested it?)....at least $200
-the reconed ones are a crap shoot,.. you've got to verify they work,... try them out,....
