Ceriatone drops an SLO Clone..

I've never actually played a real SLO. I did have a Mezzabarbra Skill 30 for a while. Very cool amp for sure but for me the crunch tones were just a bit shy of being there and the lead channel had too much gain for me even running the gain at 9 o'clock. I wish it would have started where the crunch left off. Gain structure was a little too smooth for me too. I like a little more grit/teeth.
Is this how a real SLO is? If so then I imagine this Ceriatone might be the same-ish.
I like the 50 watt form of this one.

I think I’ve missed the boat on getting a Ceriatone. Their prices have got to where it’s not an easy choice anymore….and I was already not sure for years about ordering a clone, sight unseen at the much cheaper prices of years past. Plus I’ve played a few used Ceriatones in person, that didn’t make me feel compelled to take them home. Not bad at all but not must have either.

I have and love the SLO100.
The crunch channel is like a JCM800, pretty much what you described. Great pedal platform for heavier tones, and cleans up so nice. The lead channel is smooth and saturated, one of the best lead sounds ever, imo.
You can get great results from the od channel with the gain between 2.5-3.5, using a pedal in front to tighten it up.
Super versatile amp, despite the fact that most people buy it for that one sound.

Dunno about the Skill 30, but my buddy's MZero had more gain on the crunch channel with the boost engaged. I nailed the exact sound using a klone boosting the SLO crunch channel.

Dunno if this Ceriatone is based on the HR50+ or SLO (there's a difference), but I'd happily grab a used SLO30 over this.
It would be much easier to get any issues with the amp resolved, and I'm guessing better parts used with the Soldano.
And it's a real Soldano. SOLDANO

The SLO30 is a kick ass amp. Had I not needed something with an actual dedicated clean I would’ve kept mine....it always felt like a compromise with the SLO30 trying to make that work.

I tried to like it twice. I can't deal with the woofy, round low end on the OD channel. And it had so much gain, pedals tightened some, but it can get messy. I actually loved the crunch, (typically took 2 pedals to get the gain i wanted), but then you feel like you bought it for the OD channel, and that didn't make you happy. The tone is really fantastic, but the low end was too round for me for rhythm, and I like it tight and percussive. Lead tones, no complaints though.. That's where it shines.

I just don't get your experience. The SLO30 I had, at least with my chain, was anything but woofy/messsy. It was perfection, except for the lack of clean headroom at volume. This is where it falls apart IMO. But at anything up to small gig level, it was tight, controlled, and detailed in the lows and any where else in the eq spectrum. Not doubting your experience as there are so many factors, but that amp was TIGHT and juicy with a boost on lead with gain at like 9-11 o'clock.

I was just jamming on my SLO 30 , crunch channel with an MXR Modified OD boost. It`s tight enough to get those Dokken and Ratt type palm mutes but without a boost I could see where people might think it has a little flub

99% of the amps I've owned are flubby without a boost. Lead Ch on the SLO30 with gain 9-10 o'clock and a boost is a tight a thrash tone as I've had out of most any other amp.

The V1 Koko Boost has been working really good on the OD channel of the SLO 30 . I’ve been running the gain on that channel around 10 o’clock

Dunno how the SLO30 differs from the 100, but the 100 has a notoriously clean power (amp) section, so most distortion should come from the preamp stages. Always thought the SLO overdrive / gain was unusable after 8, just a complete buzz. But if one managed to crank the power amp enough, it would help to remove said buzz. But at that point they're just so god damned loud.
