Ceriatone Purchase questions USA vs Malaysia

Do you pay a sales tax or import duty when ordering from Malaysia?
I assume you pay sales tax if ordering from the USA site?
USA sales tax plus cheaper shipping in USA vs expensive shipping + possible duty from Malaysia….is it a wash?
The USA store, are their shipping prices good or do they include shipping in the price? The disclaimer says the price includes shipping “to” the U.S. but doesn’t clarify if you’re paying for shipping to your residence.
 
When I bought directly from Ceriatone/Malaysia in 2020/2021, there was no sales tax or duties. I got a 2203 (including head shell, tubes, transformers, etc). $178 shipping direct to my house in the midwest. If you order directly from Nik, it should just be the item plus shipping. When I first reached out to him, I had a quote including shipping within a couple hours.

He offers choices between UPS, DHL and Fed Ex. I asked because each company will have their own possible fees just for bringing in the package above and beyond straight shipping. UPS charged a buyer of mine from Canada, about $20 as a processing fee. Also I would want to make sure they don’t use FedEx as after ordering a few guitars from Japan over the years, with no issue, the one time I pay import duty and have the guitar be over a week late was with FedEx.

It's usually UPS when I buy from him. Fucking fast as hell. Usually 3 days and it's there
 
I ordered a 2204 through Guitars Amps USA. Price included shipping directly to my home.
 
yeah I ordered from the usa guy, shipping cost built in to amp cost. But I talked with Nik about my order and he shipped it to me from Malaysia

I ordered a 2204 directly as well. I assume the final cost I paid covered everything. Damn, I can't wait for it!! I got the same amp Stroud did - small headshell, and buffered loop. Also have a Hot Mod V2 EVO waiting. I ordered with no tubes - I have tubes coming out my ears, and typically change them to my personal preference anyway. This one's getting Tungsol EL34B's.
 
I ordered an amp from him maybe 5 weeks ago now... I had it in just over 3 weeks. He shipped with UPS and included shipping in the quote. Don't know if I will see a duty bill from UPS, some of that stuff has always been hit or miss over the years.

Yep, Fedex was pretty good about sending me bills for two MIJ Jackson's I got off eBay from Japan. I don't know if UPS sent me one for the last Ceriatone I got though.

FedEx nailed me on a Gretsch from Japan. Another reason adding to the pile of dead at the feet of FedEx fuckery.

That's the only time I paid any duties on anything. An Edwards LPC that came from Japan via FedEx. They sent me a bill for $60.
