Changed the Floyd Rose JT-580 LP to a Ghotoh GE1996T-33-BK in the Jackson Pro Series DK2M Dinky. Needed a tiny bit of routing in the trem recess and different posts. Apart from that was drop-in.

I've seen some discussion in forums about whether this was possible as they are almost identical. It's do-able if you are able to do some routing.

The GE1996T is excellent so far. A big change from the absolutely trashed, chipped and milky looking licensed floyd rose. To be fair, it did to well, probably 500 shows and hundreds if not thousands of hours practice time since I got it in 2006 in LA.

Where on yours did you need to route? Was it back corner edges of the trem plate? Ordered a couple of the 1996 to swap out the 1000 on two of my guitars. I did it once before but it didn't need routing, just the posts redone. Edit: don't see anything on your pic, block routing?

I want to replace mine too, on my 96 MIJ Dinky but I just don't want to do any routing. Is there another way?

From what I gather, it's usually the trem block or the rear corners of the base plate. I was thinking if I run into the former issue with my Charvel and Kramer I would try to drill and tap the block itself to offset it.

had to cut along the red line as the rear Intonation screws where resting on the body rather than inside the recess

This is the one I want to replace the trem. It's not unuseable and stays in tune fairly well... but as my only floyd guitar I would like to have it be a bit more stable and useful.

You might run into the same issue as the op. I would look at the FR pro or the schaller one that's shorter, forget it's model. Pretty sure there another FR that is actually before the FRO, not sure if they still produce it. Pretty sure you can actually get shorter string lock screws from any of them. Maybe even ace hardware for a fraction of the $.

The reason I went for Gotoh was the rest of the dimensions are exact. I can't confirm but after researching it, this seemed like the easiest option. OFR looked like a bit more routing and different posts I think.
