Changes in Herbert from 2004 model to current?

I might be trading some of my rack gear with someone locally for a Herbert, which has been verified to be a 2004 by Peter, so I was wondering how this 2004 model will differ from models that came after it, up to current 2010 Herberts.

Just want to know what I'm getting and if it will be a good trade or if I should skip and wait for a later date amp, basically.

(the guy wants my 2:90 & jmp-1, maybe some other gear+cash)

From my memory, the earlier Herbert's are a bit tighter than the later ones. Tonally, they still sound
like a Herbert.

I was looking at some reviews on the HC site, and there seems to be a gap from 2004 to 2007 in the reviews.

however, the reviews were rating their amps as different versions, 2.1, 2.3, 2.5, etc...

now that was back in 2004.

the amp i might get is a 2004, so other than the bias points and such, what about tonal differences?

Can we get something official here? a real timeline of the changes/modifications that have occurred in the last 6-7 years of Herbert amp production?

i have an 04 Herbert & played it against a newer one. Besides the external bias points & LEDS on the back...they were tonally & functionally pretty much the same. Believe mine was a touch tighter. So let her fly...u will not be sorry!! The Herbert will make your other rig seem like a Crate!!

There are no tonal differences through the years with the Herbert.

No, it was the circuit of the negative feedback loop. If you go with a later one you can make it tight like the old ones with a quick mod.
