Hey Guys,
This is basically where it all started for me. I got into the whole modded Marshall thing because I was a big Green Day fan and wanted to get their sound...
Once I dove into the whole thing a bit more I landed on a #34/36 mod as my first modded Marshall about 7 years ago, but now it's time to finally tackle the Dookie Mod...
I had a rough idea of what the original "PETE" Dookie mod is, but the actual circuit is only known by very few people, so I tried to tweak the unknown variables by ear.
It's of course extremely hard to tell when you've made a correct choice because I don't have the same guitar/cab/mic setup from those '94 gigs, but I tried my best.
There's not a lot of info on the speakers they used back in the day, but from my testing, I think they used 25W Greenbacks. I tried G12T-75, but they sounded like trash... My 1988 G12 Vintage 4x12 is still in the rehearsal room, so I can't try those speakers right now, but going from memory of recording with that cab, it's too mid-heavy for that sound anyway.
Playing that stuff with the same energy that Billie did in the 90s is very hard, but here's my take on it.
Here is what inspired this whole thing:
