I was stopping by there to see if they had a nice quality strap to go along with my newest guitar purchase and see if they had any pedals that spoke to me. I've noticed this particular store is extremely slow with dropping prices on used gear and figured I'd take a peek at this light blue DK24 made in Mexico, I'm guessing, guitar that they've had for a while. I didn't play it, but just general impressions, it was so light that it felt like a toy. The fingerboard needed cleaning but the neck felt like it'd be comfortable to play and none of the fret edges felt sharp or anything like that, but overall the roasted maple didn't look or feel like anything special. I think it had DiMarzios, but they could have been Duncans, 2 white humbuckers. I've been intrigued by the Gotoh bridge all these modern rock guitars are coming with now since not all come with Floyds by default anymore. The finish on the body seemed unfinished, like there were some specs of dirt in the finish. I would like to try some of these guitars out one day though, a lot of the YouTube guys seem to get along with them.

Some guitars have 'it'; and some don't. Your experience with that one is almost identical to the Mexican version that I tried back in 2013...felt like a cheap copy of the USA I had at the time. Haven't felt the need to try another, although I do know guys that have scored with good ones made in Mexico. I did have an EVH Bumblebee that was Mexican; and it was a nice guitar. Sharp fret ends but it was 699 new back then?

I played one and it was the single greatest piece of shot I have ever played. But, I played the USA DK and it was killer.

lol what did you think was crappy about it? They seem to come loaded with good pickups and the bridge is supposed to be pretty nice from what I understand.

I needed a backup to my Charvel Ash GG model and didn't want to fork over that much $$$ so I bought a scratch and dent dk24 to mod (refin, new pickups, new tuners, etc). Does it play as effortlessly as the custom shop GG? Hell no, but for the money I have in it it's a solid guitar.

A lot of them have tuning issues and need a good setup. The nut on mine needed a little work and.I removed the string trees and added staggered tuners (not sure why they don't come stock this way since they do ship with locking tuners). But the neck carve and frets are nice, luminlay side markers too.

The 510 bridge is solid. Pickups are ok (not to my taste) but I think my pots were EVH branded pots. I wish they used the fuller San Dimas body, but the dinky isn't much smaller than my Suhr standard.

Anyway, I'm a fan...decent specs/parts and easy to mod to taste.

If you're interested in something like the DK, the Ibanez AZ's can be similar but the ones I tried had a much thicker neck carve.

from what I've played, the MIM Charvels can be hit or miss , I've had 2 (still have the Infinity blue DB24 and had the Dark Amber)
after some set up and pick up swaps (not a fan of the full shred) both of mine play and sound great. I have played some
that felt like utter garbage too though.

I have a MIM DK24 (Okoume with ebony board) and it's a great guitar. Plays and sounds great. I'm surprised how good it is considering the price. I can't gel with it though...I bought it thinking I wanted to try 6 string again, but am having a hard time adjusting to the little neck.
