Ive narrowed it down to these two choices.
I want a really warm brown tone out of my CRANKED herbert through my RL cab.
If you have experience with these speakers please help me pull the trigger on one of these two speakers to put into my new cab
THanks!!!!!

How about 2 CL 80s and 2 MC 90s?

Also, kind of off topic, but have you had both a RL and FL cab?

Maybe so.. Have you tried them

And no, ive only tried the RL's...

I had Egnater/Celestion CL 80 that were essentially tweaked normal CL 80s. They have a huge bottom end, smooth highs and very flat, balanced mids. The only thing I didn't like was they were just kind of stale sounding to my ears, I don't how to explain it....kind of like playing G12 T75, they just didn't seem to have full character. Maybe it was because they were tweaked to be more neutral.

I think I've played MC 90s in one of those old metal grill Mesa cabs and I remember them being a bit bright, they were paired with EVM 12Ls so they were balanced out real well. They are made for Mark amps I think so they are pretty tight and also have a large bottom end. Good speakers overall, but again, they didn't seem to have an definitive sounding characteristics.

I know you don't like V30s but I really think V30s mixed with whatever you are looking at would be great...you can pick them up cheap and give them a try mixed with something. I think they work great with the Herbert because the mid spike allows the Herbert to cut a little better and makes it sound a bit more aggressive, but you can also dial that out too.

Just my opinion.
