Got some hits from Rig-Talk before on a couple of my rough videos of the band on YouTube, and thought it would be cool to post the next one here...I am loving this forum!
Nothing spectacular here...but I enjoy reading threads on Mesa amps and thought it might be useful to show the amp in a gig setting, with a bit of an off-the-wagon setup...I have a Strat driving the Roadster, into a vintage Marshall Cab...playing some Santana...I'm all over the map!
I think Mesas often get thrown into the "too dark, muddy, too scooped" generalization, and I beg to differ. It may be partially due to my setup too, but I think the Roadster (and possibly other Mesas) is a highly versatile amp. Ironically, I am actually a vintage Marshall guy...I own a 100W and 50W Plexi, and nothing comes close to it as far as classic pure vintage rock tones...but its so frickin loud! Not that the mesa is quiet...of course. But the roadster gives me nice cleans AND distortions without need for boost pedals (although I have a TS9 that sounds great in-line, but usually don't use it because it compresses too much when I'm playing live)...and it works for me, even though I am just doing mostly classic rock covers in this band.
Oh yeah, and one day I hope to be shelling out (finally) the cash for a Les Paul...I think humbuckers drive the Mesas better, especially w/o any pedals...tried a LP with a roadster at Guitar Center and I think I ruined my Strat setup in my mind indefinitely until I can get my hands on the LP! Oh well....the strat IU have here is a Clapton signature, and it has active electronics, so it does drive the head better than a traditional single coil strat.
Anyway, here you go...not perfect performances by any means...but I think we need more vids of amps being used outside of the house (lol).
