I am looking for a clean boost any recomendations. Does anybody have any experience with the following:
Keeley Katana
Catalinbread Serrano
CAE boost
Are there any other ones ? I really just need the volume boost, I know the Keeley has a drive knob on the side. A simple boost should'nt be as expensive.

smooth taper...i know what you mean, the pics look like it's notches and i was worried when i bought it, but it's smooth taper..........

I use a BYOC triboost, it works well, I usually use the clean boost function for a solo boost. You get a treble booster too, although I find I am not a big treble booster fan

Well, its not cheap but my Menatone VOS has a really nice clean boost as well as overdrive so it's three pedals in one. Clean boost, overdrive, and clean boosted overdrive. At $300 its a bit expensive but does the work of three.

It's a clean boost so in reality there sin't much to a simple clean boost. Check out the electro harmonix lbp or a used seymour duncan pickup booster. Both can be had cheap and they're a clean boost

Are you looking for a boost for soloing applications, to fatten up your sound, or restore your tone from a long line of effects pedals? The reason I ask is: you may want to look into a simple buffer for tonal recovery or something like a simple volume pot hooked to a switch ala J. Everman effects "the Pot" if you want a simple volume boost to your amp.

I love my AC Booster. It's really nice for taming an overly-bright amp. Goes from clean, to a really nice bluesy overdrive. Very useful tone controls, and with the gain at zero and the volume maxed, it's a great clean boost. Responds really well to picking dynamics.

It's on 100% of the time in my rig, even on the clean channel.

I am looking to use it for a solo boost.

I've been wondering about the CAE/MXR pedals. How do they compare to say the Xotic BB preamp ? Just as smooth or more gritty sounding ?

The BB preamp can get dirty, smooth distortion. The MXR from what I read is only a clean boost.

Wow, that is a cool sight. I like the Pot, it's very simple and cheap. Alot of guys gave some great recommendations, but I just needed something for boosting volume for solos. I am going to look into this further along with the Carl Martin and MXR.
