Clean switching on the CCV

Question for you CCV owners. It sounds to me like Channel one gets such a good Gain tone that you wouldn't want to sacrifice a clean tone on it. So I am wondering how easy is it to switch the amp to a semi nice clean tone (Enter Sandman/Hot for Teacher/Kryptonite etc) on the fly.... then maybe switch back to the gain tone. It wouldn't have to be the best clean the amp can dial in- just a passable clean. Meaning I wouldn't want to sacrifice the killer tone that I might dial in on channel 1. It would be cool to hit a few switches just prior to that particular song, than switch back after.....Does this all make sense?  How easy would it be able to do this if at all?

It is very easy to do. Both channels have clipping switches above the masters...add the "solo" master to the mix on channel 2, which also has the clipping switch. So you can easily set up channel 1 to be clean, channel 2 to have mid gain and the solo master to have max gain clipping. The only limitation is that channel 2 and the solo master share EQ...so you need to set it up to sound good with and without the solo master. Don't forget that there is an effect loop as well, so you can use EQ for tone shaping as needed/wanted  Don't forget that you can also use a pedal to get dirt on channel 1 if needed.

Cool thanks Dave! But what if I had a cool tone like you had set in your latest video. Could I just hit a few switches to make a decent clean channel... on the fly live? (in between songs without changing eq settings and going too crazy)

Why not just set channel 1 for a real nice clean and then channel 2 as your gainey rhythm tone and hit the solo switch for all your lead work? If I use a clean channel live thats how I do it.

Thats an obvious option. Its just that I only use clean for 2% of the night. So thinking it'd be nice just to switch it on the fly and make use of the great channel 1 gain tones I've been hearing. Switch it to clean for a song; than back to gain.

I have yet to play a CCV though.

You could change it on the flay, but since there is clipping, the volume get changed drastically depending on where you have it set. The other thing that could be done is using the volume knob to adjust gain....

Drastically louder or softer? And on clean?

The gain style above the masters engage diodes for gain clipping. The center of each volume has no clipping and is very loud. If I engage the switch to the left, the volume is cut quite a bit. Moving it to the right and it is clipped even more and the volume drops again. This is what happens with Jose style amps.

Thanka for the explanation  . Sounds like that plan won't really work.
