Alexi Laiho is children of bodoms lead guitarist.

ive always been an eddie/gilbert/romeo/zakk fan. never caught onto this guy until recently.

this is just a bit heavier than i normally listen too. but songs like sixpounder rock.

can anyone recommend albums to get me started?

Follow The Reaper, Hate Crew Deathroll, and Hatebreeder are good places to start. I've not heard the new record, can't wait to check it out.

Edit: Haha, just noticed I'm wearing my COB shirt in my avatar. Very nice.

yeah ive been splooging on youtube vids (or lack thereof) of COB. it was a side link to a symphony x vid i had just watched.

definately some zakk influence. but damn he's got talent.

the whole band does. totally worth buying a cd from.

thanks for the info

I'm not really a COB fan, but I know most albums... Solo-wise, I like Follow The Reaper best.

(I once taped all solos from Megadeth's Countdown To Extinction back to back when the record came out just because I didn't care so much for the rest. Sometimes I think COB would sound better that way too.)

alexi's live tone sounds alright, but on the record-song recordings ive heard on youtube he's got some serious SOMETHING going on. hellatiously heavy and really just in-your-face gain tone.

i saw a couple vids of engl and krank in backgrounds. cant tell what krank it is though.

im not a huge metallica fan at all. like.. one song possibly. one of those phases you go in and out of. i especially dispise anything new they do. id rather turn the radio off and listen to air than have them playing in my ears.

thanks for narrowing down the said choices. ill purchase the follow the reaper album come my next paycheck

first 3 then all down hill from there IMO :aww:

But as everyone says.. Follow the Reaper!

He got his Krank for the latest album, and I think he has switched to active pickups too. But his main tone for a long time has been something like:

EMG HZ passive bridge pickup -> EMG booster -> Lee Jackson Preamp -> VHT poweramp -> Marshall 4x12.

Great player, great talent, great band. Look for the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival video, but don't let the youtube quality spoil it for you. It can be found in much much better quality. I cover Sixpounder in my band , and it just rocks.

All of their albums except the last two are great IMO. Hatebreeder, Follow The Reaper, and Hatecrew Deathroll are my favorites.

I like all of them, but Hate crew deathrow and Follow the reaper are my favorites.

alexi is my favourite player at the moment! try the new album blooddrunk. great moments of his playing on that. also are you dead yet? and hatebreeder are awesome, along with follow the reaper and....fuck it i love them all!!!

btw, the bonus tracks on the uk version are very funny!
