I remember a while back before the great schism, Jeff was talking about a COD+. IIRC, it was basically tightening up the bass a little, adding a touch more gain, and the possibility of adding a mid cut switch. I'm curious how far this actually went before getting axed? I like the idea of the COD with a slightly tightened up low end and the mid cut (but not too much) switch, but for me, the gain is spot on for this module. Any thoughts, comments, possibility for a custom mod?

The additional gain made it oscillate if I'm remembering correctly.

A COD mod I liked was to change the cap on the tube board to darken it up a bit....forget what they're called now, links the gain stages together I think....I doubled the value from 500pf to 1000 or maybe I halved it, LOL..no much help.

If you darkened it then I'm pretty sure you doubled the cap value . . .

1000pf on the tube board, or you can even double up the caps to make it even smoother.

Do you know what the difference between C1 and C2 is on that tube board? Are they the same, just one for each channel?

C2 is where you would install the cap. Not sure what C3 does as none of the modules I've had have anything installed there. Tube board generally has a resistor on top, C2 and C3 below that.

I was really hoping Jeff might pop in here. I'd love to hear the COD get just a little meaner (tone wise), and getting that mid switch on the front panel for stock mids/cut mids could really help make this a much more versatile module.

You might talk to Klark on the mid cut thing. I recall he had a bunch of modules with switches for the mids on his. IIRC, there is a "SW1" or something similar to that on the board for this.

P.S. Sorry if this is old news - I have the electronics education of a 1st grader. Waiting for Bruce's amp seminar...
