should a 5 pin Midi cable power my Columbus from an early VH4s?

The 5 pin MIDI cable has to have all 5 pins connected and hot for phantom power. Most all of the off the shelf MIDI cables sold in the US are not wired with all 5 pins, only 3. Use your Columbus straight from the amp with a 7 pin.

Thanks! I tried a 7 pin as well- no go. I also tried 3 other 5 pin cables w/ no luck.
However my back-up Midi Mouse does change channels on the VH4. So the Midi seems to work on the Vh4.
I have to find an AC cable for the Columbus. (the Columbus did work w/ my Herbert so that works as well)

Maybe the VH4 is not set to Omni and the Columbus isn't communicating with it. Go through the manual and mess with the Midi settings a bit.
