I have an idea to possibly use the compensated out jack to run a stereo wet/dry setup with my Herbert. I assume that the levels to this output are controlled by the Channel Volumes and "not" by the Master Volume's?

Here's a rough idea to what I'm thinking for the signal path:

Diezel Herbert speaker out to a 4x12 cab (Dry)------------Compensated out to input of rack effects unit, output of effects unit into Mesa Stereo Power Amp running two 4x12 cabs Stereo Left & Right (Wet)

Would this work without harming anything? Also, am I correct in assuming that the output level for the compensated out is controlled by the channel volumes? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

from Herbert's Manual:
3.2.7 Compensated Out
A frequency corrected signal will leave this jack if you connect it to a mixer or
recording device. Use it to quietly compose or send an auxiliary signal to a
console etc. For quiet sessions, just turn the master volumes to “0”. Recording a
loudspeaker through a microphone is the preferred choice of recording engineers.
The compensated out was designed as an alternative for those of you that don’t
have a studio at your fingertips.

Thanks for the reply, however I've already read this in my manual and it's pretty vague. That's why I started this thread. ;)

What I want to know is if the Compensated Out functions the same as the Slave out that I used to use on my Mesa Heads? Or, is it a recording out like what is on my triaxis? And what is the difference?

Thanks again,
-d

yeah, i know. its vague. i wish i could help more but i have a vh4, not an herbert... from reading the manual. it seems as though the channel volumes control the compensated out's output level, because it says you can turn the masters off and still get sound.

The compensated out is only for hifi or recording and
needs to turn the master up.
Please use the send for Your dry/wet rig
