Conceptual idea for M4

I read the thing from dUg about the bass modules and it really got me thinking. Would it be possible to split the preamp and have it run 2 modules simultaneously? This would be practical for instance if you wanted to run bass and guitar at the same time through 1 M4 to 2 separate power amps (would require another input). Yet another application would be running 2 modules in stereo through one power amp. Heck, you could do a Local H thing and run bass signal and guitar signal all at once.

Anyone else interested in something like this?

A guy I work with is interested in this as well but just for running two guitar signals out. Namely, having SL2 and ERECT running to two separate cabs for that magical Marshall/Mesa combination that so many enjoy.

What about VX + SL2 to cop a more Dean DeLeo sound??

This is more what I envisioned. Usually when tracking in the studio I do one clean and one dirty to help articulate arpeggiations and one note riffs. I would think that virtually any combination would sound massive with 2 4x12's X pattern.

With assignable outs and a switch to split the pre it would be completely unsurpassed. You could achieve those hard to get studio tones where you're mixing Vox, Marshall, Mesa, Engl, etc. in a live situation.

i was gonna do some double tracking w/ the VX and EG5 on my recordings. I think it'd be a pretty interesting sound together. Gotta love Dean's tone though. He's got the VHT Classic 2150, so he can join our "man friend 3-way" :).

YOu can buy a 2100 Classic from Rareguitar. Too bad it costs more than $2100 :(

Theres alot of siutations where you will double track something clean and maybe semi dirty, or even semi dirty and really heavy. But more important than the different tones is the slight differnences in the performance that creates a much bigger sound. Thats why double tracking (or triple) sounds MUCH bigger than taking the same performance and either offsetting it with delay copied onto other tracks or even re-amping the same dry performance through different rigs.

Then, why does Dean DeLeo use the Vox and the Demeter rig live if it's just him playing a single track live????

It still makes a difference.

No, I totally agree for live use. You can only play something once at the same time! So your best bet is multiple amps (or multiple guitar players).

Sorry, my comment was more related to studio use.

okay, then yeah, I agree.

You will get more dramatic results with same amp, two actual performances/tracks, than you will with all of this blending/reamping stuff.
