This is my entry for a mixing/production contest and you only get one try so I need some pre-entry critique please. DI's were reamped and drum and bass tracks were provided, edited, mixed and mastered. I'm not kidding when I say critique it hard, don't be nice. Thanks :D

I think the guitars sound a bit fizzy. Pretty decent, but they are a tad fuzzy and not as defined as I think they should be. Wouldn't mind hearing a different snare personally. The one provided sounds a little thin and fake. Wonder if you could mix in something underneath. Balance is decent. I think the biggest thing I would say needs improvement is just the guitar sound in general. Its decent, but specially when it goes chugga, sounds fizzy. Perhaps remicing going even more towards the dust cap?

Thanks, that's what I was thinking as well. Just on the offchance that it was due to EQing and not miking, listen to this version and tell me if the problem is fixed or not.

This sounds a little better, but I think it may be the amp itself, or where the mic was. Its really on the palm mutes where it sounds undefined and fuzzy. Should have more a percussive attack for this style. What amp?

Marshall AVT 50. I noticed that the DI's were very muddy, if I reamped them again I would EQ them on the way in without a doubt. It sounds like he has a lazy right hand so the chugs aren't as defined as they could have been. Part of my mic placement had to do with this fact, but I should mic it again anyway.

Not bad, but i'm not crazy about it. last clip is still kinda fuzzy but i can't describe it, or say what would make it better
