I'm in the market for a 2 channeler around 50 watts. Is the renegade for me?
need 2 channels 1 fender clean but responds well with pedals for blues and a lead ch. that offers something like modern rock. not brootl metal per se just solid modern rock. Is the Renegade that amp?
Also I can make easy payments from American musical supply so I'm a little limited as to choices. choice 2 is the Alchemist.
Go.

I picked up a renegade last night. I played 2 different alchemist heads through two different cabs with a strat and a humbucker guitar, coudln't get any sound I liked on the high gain channel. Maybe it was because they both just came back from service, dunno. Plugged into the renegade at home with my cab and strat, on cleans each pickup position sounded very different (in a good way), this was with the tone controls set flat. Also tried the prs on ch 2, the distortion is thick, it sings. Still have to try adding in some external effects and cranking it a bit. I traded in a mesa combo for this renegade.

I suggest you go play it, convinced me.

Well, you do just have to go play them. But based on reviews, I'd take the Renegade in a second. Many many sub par reviews of the Alchemist. BUT, I've heard some pretty good demo's of it as well.

I've only played through/heard the Renegade so I really can't give a comparison, but I do know that if I didn't have my Mod 50, I'd have a Renegade in a heartbeat. I though it sounded fantastic for stuff I do from blues/classic/hard rock. Comparable to my Mod really. Probably closest to Bassman/SL2 modules.

i also had both, bought the alchemist while i waited for the tourmaster, it has some good tones, but not as good as the renegade-and you get more tonal options with the tube dial and footswitch. Renegade in my experience did kill the alchemist(i didn't care for onboard effects).

This is pretty much how I'm using my Renegade. I use chan 1 for a Fender-ish clean or with some soft overdrive (using an OD pedal), and chan 2 for modern rock crunch and solos. Chan 2 can sound quite Marshall-y if you crank the gain up. I have no interest in metal sounds at all.

Like many people, I considered Alchemist vs. Renegade. In the end, it seemed (at least to me) that the Alchemist had one great sound, but the Renegade had lots of great sounds. Also, the Alchemists I tried in the store all had some kind of problem; loose screws, weird ringing noises, etc. Overall the Renegade seems better put together.

I can't even believe this question... There is NO comparision.

I have some of the best amps in the World, and I'm telling you The Renegade 65w Head and the Matching TM212 cabs with the Elite 80's are giving me
some of the best sounds I've ever heard in my life!

Roid RAGE

I also was deciding between the Renegade and the Alchemist. The Renegade hands down. I had played an alchemist several times. It took one time with the Renegade and the decision was made.

Not only does it sound really good, but it's got some cool, usable features.

Tried the efx, very clean loop. Noise is low, except when all the effects are on at once, but that's what the noise gate is for. Had to turn down the send a bit to make sure it didn't clip, basically just compared to full bypass and set the loop level. The low end this renegade puts out (even into a 212 at low volume) is amazing even without density turned on at all, mainly because of the master volume.

Thanx for the recommendations guys. Renegade it is. I've heard nothing but good stuff about it. I'm getting the head since I've got quite a few cabs .I'm gonna load 'em with some flat sounding speakers since I've heard renegades are middy .
