Does anyone have experience with Cornford? I've always been curious but don't know much about them, other than Richie Kotzen uses them.

This is not true. Cornford are currently trying to find a builder in the US. I have the MK50 MK2 and its a great amp.

The MK50 and RK100 are both great amps. Have never played the MK50 II but cannot imagine it would be any less as excellent. The RK100 is by far my favorite of the ones I have played.

Not a fan myself but strictly based on tone. Quality wise I've only heard good things.

I'm a huge fan of the MK50; probably my favorite all around amp.

Had the MK50II... Very clean type of gain... Well built and laid out. Just seemed a tad cold and unforgiving for my tastes. Sounded good and the more you cranked her, the more she would saturate a bit... Very SLO'ish in some ways. Heard great things about the RK100 and Mark Tremonti is currently tracking with one for new Alter Bridge album.. Talked to him and he LOVES it  ... and hes a gear nut.

"Cornford" hasn't built amps for like 5 years now. This Straight Edge company had registered 'Cornford Amplification Ltd' as a company & a trademark in Nov 2008, and is listed as Cornford's director.
Straight Edge says this was done to protect Paul's interest, with his full knowledge; Paul Cornford says he did not find out until months later. SE says they stopped making them in Apr. '12

I'm lucky enough to have two of them badboys - an '03 Hellcat and a '06 MK50 II. Sweet, unique killer sounding amps. Too bad what's happened, it seems super fucking shady but with Martin Kidd gone...Cornford RIP.
If you can get an unmolested early one do it. Because there's a guy out there who keeps buying up all the old ones an resoldering and tinkering around and who knows what else...fucking wacko.

It depends who built it really. The ones that were built by Martin Kidd are expertly built.

Do they look anything like Mark Cameron's 'orange' mod? :hys:

When I buy a Mark Cameron modded amp...I expect that, not only do I expect that but if any of that has been removed..I'm not interested. I buy his amps for the sound.

When I buy a Cornford, I want a Cornford. Not a soldering practice piece for some nozzle out there. Amps tend to change hands a bit and more than a few will be unaware of these "improvements" or appreciate them.
Without some sort of sticker or something on there signifying that this amp has been fucked with...that's fraud, plain and simple.

I agree! That is why I place a summery and pics of my refits to show people what a proper build should look like. Every SE built Cornford I have ever purchased (3) had issues that needed correction. If I'm not mistaken, you commented on these issues yourself on the Cornford forum, so I know we are in agreement.

On the Mark Cameron thing, I do not agree. There's no reason for any amplifier to look like that! If you like it, that's cool... Me, no!

My Cornford MK50 MK1 was THE best gigging amp I've owned, sounded amazing on big stages :)

Ive been advertising here in Europe for an RK100 if anyone knows of somebody selling one!
Thanks guys
