Couple of questions. ( for Peter or whomever)

Anybody here play a Herbert with all 6550's, and does it tighten up the sound and still retain a delicate top end, clarity is of a concern too.

Second question, I've seen Peter suggest 4-6550 and 2 EL34B's, will that do what I want, clear, fast low end, delicate top, nice midrange, with a fast attack. Also when biasing these is there a certain range for both so it's easier on the power tranny, and allow less hum, and at a good balance so both contribute to the sound as best as possible.

Don´t forget that You adjust a pair (60/80 milliamps)

I am curious of the sound difference between the stock EL-34 and 6550...anyone used both? Maybe I'll just have to try it!

... will that do that or do you recommend something else? Also clean channel is very important. Keep in mind I'm very close to what I want stock, I just need a tad bit more clarity and faster low end.

I will shortly know how how 2x 6550s and 4x EL34s sound, but it depends when the post comes...

If it's quite subtle I might not remember quite how it sounded before, so what the difference is!

Sounds like I want a similar thing to you, but I play quite a few styles so want tight metal crunch, whilst not making it over clinical or too "cold" sounding.
