Cry Baby killing tone?

Hey everyone,

I have read a lot about that the cry baby is sucking tone because it does not have true bypass.
My model is the 535 Crome - I like the sound of it, but after buying such a great amp as the herbert,
I am afraid of killing my tone with it...

There are a lot of tutorials how to do a real bypass on the normal cry baby, but not on this more complicated version.

What are your experiences? Does it make sense to do a true bypass mod?

Merry Christmas to all of you, stay rock

Sell it and buy an RMC Wizard Wah.
Yep, the RMC5 (Wizard) is the best WAH out there besides the magic of the Automagic Silver Machine Wah SM-2

BTW - All the Crybaby incarnations suck tone and none of them are true bypass. The Clyde Deluxe is OK, but the Fulltone Clyde standard is much better sonically.

Mh,
I am not dissatisfied with the tone of my cry baby. It has a q-control and a booster (which I do not use) and works gread for metal-soloing, I dont do anything else. I bought mine used 2 years ago for 80 Euros - spending 250 Euros in a wha wha seems to be very much. Yes, I own a herbert, but that does not mean I am rich ( not now for shure ^^ )
I have worked my ass off for over two years to buy a used one.
So I think a better way would be modding the cry baby - but all the tutorials say how to do that with the standard cry baby...

you can have it modded. I think also dunlop have different models that has TB but don't quote me on that one.

for what it's worth, when I got my wah pedal I wanted to get a wah-tone like Michael Amott from Arch Enemy has, and I've read that he uses the rackmount cry-baby.
I went for the Morley Tremonti model which has a nice "cross-over" between vintage wah and modern "bad horsie" style, I think it has very nice sweep. If I were to put my finger on anything, it has to be that it's a bit tough to control around the 50% mark, very "touchy" so to speak.
I would've liked it to be not quite so sensitive on the "middle mark". So it requires a bit of practice (or good balance   ) to get the best out of it. But I digress. Dunlop units are cool too

Then in that case, the very moment that you connect that "thing" between the output of your guitar and the input of your magnificent Herbert, you have effectively reduced Herbert’s tone and dynamics to a garden variety Mesa Boogie. No Dunlop WAH is true bypass, and this is a major dynamic.

FACT!

G-lab makes a Wah-pad you plug your signal into, then you put the wah onto it, then hook it up to it, and it has an output, so when ever you put your foot on the wah, it'll make your wah active, and when you take your foot off of it, it'll bypass it. TRUE BYPASS it. Go onto YouTube and search G-Lab wah pad. There are 2 good demos done by Rob Chappers and Justin Sandercoe.

You're better off with THIS simple drop-in kit.

Expensive, but very cool thing - I will think about it.

@King Crimson: The kit you show is the same problem as I mentioned before.

Wha's:
Early Jen, Vox, Arbiter,(etc) Italian wah pedals
Thomas Organ Crybaby, Vox V846, and early Dunlop
Vox V847 and Dunlop GCB-95 rev. D
Dunlop Crybaby GCB-95 rev. E
Dunlop Crybaby GCB-95 revs F, G, and H

But NOT said Dunlop Crybaby 535

He's got one for the 535, he just didn't include it because...

All I can say is that the Zakk Wylde Wah is one of the best wah´s ever!

All you have to is to dial the higher frequencies. Amazing!
It doesn´t have tb, but you dont need it. Sound great. One of the reasons why i kicked my Morley. Tone sucker!
