Here's the current gear-once the rack arrives, the Herbert will be racked up with a Rocktron Xpression multi fx unit, a decimator, a tuner, and the furman power thingie. I'm using a Ground Control Pro to control it all, a RMC Picture Wah, and a Rocktron Banshee Talk Box. I have a Fulltone Fulldrive 2, but I don't think I am going to need it anymore. I love this amp!

Finally got her, eh? NICE! Congratulations!
I'm envious. Guitar Center San Francisco had one a couple of months ago. I played it, thinking it sounded too close to my Einstein to buy it. Went back a few weeks later to buy it and trade the Einy....they had it on 'hold' for someone. Went back in there Monday and found out they shipped it to the Hollywood store. :gethim:

Yeah, you definitely don't need an OD pedal with Diezel. Hooked up one on mine and it definitely brought the tone down. And this is a 400 dollar custom OD pedal. Sounds great on my other amps, though.

Congrats! I love mine. I hate to see you compromise the amp by putting rack effects into it though. It really sucks the tone right out of it. I use a wah and phaser in front of the amp, just for a little modulation at gigs. When I play at home, I go straight in. I could never deal with rack effects in the loop of any amp. I always hear a synthetic kinda sound. When you get it hooked up, try it straight and, and then with your rack, and see what you think. Enjoy!

Yeah, I am not a huge fan of effects period (beyond the wah and talkbox); I like a little chorus on clean sometimes. I am going to run the effects through the switchable loop, so they won't be there when I am not using them. I have been running it dry so far and I think it has an incredible sound as is. he clean is incredible, especially with the mid cut engaged.

Thanks for the info.

Nice Rig Man! Your LP Custom is just like mine! They sound great with the Herberts don't they!

I was reading the posts regarding effects and I just thought I'd chime in with my .02 worth. :)

Personally, I think the effects loops in the Diezel Amps are the best, and cleanest I've ever heard. I use a Rocktron Intellifex Online through my Herbert and there is no tone degredation whatsoever. In fact, if you have the mix parameters on the effects unit setup correctly for the type of loop you are using, it actually provides some pretty killer tone enhancement. I don't use a whole lot of effects, just a little delay here & there & maybe some chorus & reverb once in awhile. I don' know if the Xpression series is as transparent as the Intellifex so I can't really comment on those?

Besides, I figure what's the point of having an amp like the Herbert with such incredible midi technology and features if your not going to use them? The capabilities and quality of this amp continues to amaze me!

BTW, I also used a Fulldrive that now sits in it's box collecting dust. However, I have found through experimentation that my Fulltone OCD complements this amp beautifully! Especially on Ch 1 and Ch 2 set to minus. Some great in between tones that with the OCD can get some fairly close approximations of a Class A EL84 type chime.

Anyway, have fun with your new "Baby"! Experiment often as the possiblities of this amp seem endless!

peace,

Get one when you can; it's awesome.

BTW, if you're in the Bay Area and looking for a Diezel, call Music Unlimited in Monterey; they always have Herberts and VH4s, or they have them on the way.

Looks good buddy! Glad you like it! The herbert is a BEAST

Thanks. So far I love this thing. I kind of had the same thoughts on the technology thing. I had to get as midi perdal for the switching etc, so I figured I'd get a multi fx unit too, just to have the effects on tap when I want them (like when I am doing my Dave Navarro trip). Can't get around playing covers of some of the old Janes Addiction songs without them, although I usually don't really use effects. I did buy a Decimator for some transparent noise reduction, and I will always have my wah and talkbox.

No, I was there last month and he told me they are only doing special orders on Diezels now- he won't be getting any for stock. :(

that's weird. Right before I ordered this one, John had them coming in all the time. I do know that if u order one he usually gets them fast. Have you talked to John directly? He's the guy to deal with.

I don't know his name, but I talked to the owner/buyer and that's what he told me. I asked him about Brunetti amps because he used to have those as well....Same thing- special order only.

I'll wait until the Diezel Hagen comes out in November and see what's up with that before I get a Herbert. I would love a Diezel preamp, if that's what it's going to be.
