hi all,

I am struggling to find a suitable midi footswitch for my VH4! does anyone know where i can get a basic but rugged and roadworthy 5 button footswitch or if anyone makes them custom?

Everything that i can find on the market is either less or more than 5 buttons and most midi foot switches have lots of other features that I simply don’t need. All I need is a simple 5 button-in-a-row layout that needs to send midi to my amp (Diezel VH4) to change channels on the amp from 1 to 4 and the 5th button would be used to turn on/off the “mute” function on the amp. It would not need the ability to change “banks” or save patches or different configs….it will only be used for the purpose of changing channels on my amp. The closest thing I could find to what I need is the Tech 21 Midi Moose. I bought one and it was broken within 3 weeks of using it!! Utter rubbish so I don’t want to go that route again. The “custom” midi foot switch would need to be able to use phantom power from the amp as well as a 9v battery in the event of a phantom power/amp failure. It also just needs the 5 buttons as mentioned with a LED to indicate which channel/button is on. It doesn’t need any fancy LCD screen display or Midi Thru etc.

appreciate any help!! :) thanks!

thanks for the quick reply mate! i have seen the RJM stuff but to be honest its still a bit too "fancy" for what i need. not too mention $$$$ pricey! im really looking for something a lot simpler hence why i thought someone somewhere would / could build a basic controller for me. the RJM is nice, dont get me wrong but its also probably a bit too big...i need something with a small footprint so it doesnt take up too much space on my board.

....the search continues! :)

...maybe the Voodoo Lab Commander could work fine:

5 switches + 1 bank selector/store button so you have 10 program changes (2 banks of 5 each).
Hope this helps ;)

that looks like it might be perfect! cheers :)

If I had a piece of gear that failed after 3 weeks I would return under warranty or get a refund

I'm pretty sure that the Voodoo Labs controller has the same SMT.

i would if i had bought the tech21 locally. i live in New Zealand and its harder to get certain gear down here so i imported the tech21 from the USA...by the time i pay for shipping back and forth the cost would be almost the same as buying another one.

Mate, New Zealand! Been there for half a year I love it.

You didn't cause the earthqake in Chistchurch with the vh4?

Man, I've seen some crazy pictures from that :scared: :aww: Where do you live?

nice! where did you stay when you were here?

hahaha yeah, i turned the VH4 up a bit too loud and well you know what happened next! Oops!

yeah its pretty hectic down in Christchurch....there has been some major damage but luckily no fatalaties which is incredible considering the quake was as powerful as the Haiti quake that killed 1000's!! i suppose it was because Christchurch is MUCH less populated and a lot of buildings and houses down there were built with earthquake strengthening...but even so its a real mess down there. Poor people are still getting big aftershocks almost a week later! I live in Auckland and we didnt feel a thing! Animals were going crazy though...they must have sensed it

Been around the whole north and south island, Auckland, Northland, Coromandel, Gisbourne, Tongariro, New Plymouth, Wellington,
Kaikoura, Christchurch, Queenstown and of course all the important locations with beautiful landscape, the sounds, the glaciers and all the stuff.

Spent about 4 weeks in Auckland and brought a nice souvenir :D
