Here is track 4 (of 20) from my upcoming album with Marco Minnemann - West ZooOpolis. This track features Chris Taylor at the very end on the beautiful Moog/Guitar melodic solo, Kevin Freeby on bass, and of course, Marco on drums. The first “train” is my Ernie Ball Morse into an Egnater COD, second train is a Fender custom shop Tele B-bender (borrowed from my good friend Victor Rocha) into a VOX and the third train is Chris!

This is from my contribution to the Normalizer 2 project where composers, Trey Gunn, Mike Keneally, Alex Machacek, Mario Marino and I are each writing an entire album over Marco’s 51-minute demanding drum solo. I have been finished with my album since June and have been engineering and helping Mike Keneally record his all summer. We just finished tracking Mike’s two days ago. When they are all done, we will release the group on Abstract Logix. The release date is set for early Jan 2009, and I hope we can keep to it. Since the album won’t be released for a few more months, I suppose it’s time for me to start coughing up some samples.

Excellent John!! I cant wait to listen the whole creation!! You have put fantastic ideas in there and playing and tones are world class too!!

about the first train, is it just the COD? or boosted somehow?

Thank you Konstantine, yeah, the fusiony dist lead is just COD ch B - sounds like everything at around 12 o'clock.

John,

I saw a couple of clips on your music page with the Axe FX. Are you using it live yet or just as tudio tool so far? Pretty cool looking unit. I've been toying with buying it just to get the effects and then of course the modelling would be a bonus for home studio use.

Although not a real amp...the Axe FX is a great time saver for for me at gigs with a super tight load on/off window like the Warped Tour and King's X shows we did. I also like how I don't need to burn 101 Phelps units of energy hauling racks, cabs, road cases, etc if I don't have help, and then turn around and attempt to operate my fingers. I actually have dialed in tones on the Axe I am content with coming right out of the box - straight to FOH... haven't spent time trying to put together the piezo and synth parts of my live sound with that rig yet - just keeping it the little Stewie Commando rig for now: Axe FX ultra, RJM mastermind footcontroler and a single sapce stereo poweramp (if I want to run my own monitors) - all in a lightwieght SKB 4 space. It's quite liberating in contrast to my Landcruiser full of doom rig...but of course the dual Egnater rig is my prefered A rig. When the E2s are out, I will add at least one to the Stewie rig.

Gotcha. How do you like the delays and chorus etc?

Sorry not to get back sooner 3 Mile Stone - I swear I don't get some of the notification messages...anyway, yeah, the delays are as good as the Eclipse in my opinion - except you don't need a PhD to program it. :)

No problem John. That thing really sounds like a really cool unit.
