So I’ve soft heard about these guys in passing. My buddy Art sent me a link to a few posts on FB about their builds. They have a 4-channel beast with a Blackface/800/SLO/Mark IIC+ all in one with separate eq and controls for all channels. The 5 band for the Mark is a fixed value.

I did some digging and seemingly all the rumpus is that the stuff is built super well and sounds killer.

Company is called Crab Effects out of the Ukraine. I got this guy off reverb for $460 shipped. It’s his version of the Randall Satan. I’m going to venture to say, it’s entirely possible it’s built better than the Randall. Here’s the kicker. Brand new this amp would be $660 shipped to the US. $860 for that 4 channel beast.

Here’s a vid I found of the Satan

Obviously full report once it gets here. I’ll pull the chassis and post guy shots as well. Going to take it to my amp guy here, Carl Popek. He’s a well known cat, and have him see what’s what. If the build is sound, I’m getting the guys Mark IIC+ build for sure.

Interesting for sure so I know I will be watching for your review or playthrough

I'm confused about the 4 channels part - can you please explain that a bit more? :dunno:

Looks interesting. Toroidal transformers...what power tubes?

I'll be very interested to hear your review. A friend of mine had some experience with his Marcus III, and really liked it. I reached out to Serhii last year about pricing with shipping, and he was very responsive and reasonable with prices.

I’m certain Larry has gotten crabs before but now Crab gives you Larry?
Larry crabs… the most delicious of all std’s

Larry vibe for sure
Except when you buy a Crab… it actually makes it to your door…

Oh this one is only Clean/Dirty. The other one I mentioned is a different amp. I’ll post a pick of it below.

Yeah man, spoke with him this morning as I had some questions about this amp. He was super responsive. Basically $660 for any 1 or 2 channel 50 watt amp shipped to the US and $860 for the 3 or 4 channel ones.

That is insane, especially if the build quality is at least better than Blades!

Dynamo amps use them too.

Tubes are clearly 6l6

🎄
Yeah. Egnater and Laney as well. Also VHT used them in the 2150 power amps and the 1st Gen 2/90/2’s.

Picture of the tube labels?

They look like 5881 tubes.

Yeah man, will be excited to hear what you think. It's hard to find anything in new that price range, even for mini heads.

Maybe so. I’ll ask the guy to take pics before he boxes it up.

To be fair, I've seen both 5881 and 6l6 labeled tubes that look this way and we know it's basically the same. So not really a big deal. I'd throw some nice fat JJ in there or some black plates either way 🥲

I'm curious about his jvm model, the 4 channel, and the damn Marcus too... there's a vh4, a uberschall... it would be easy to spend alot of money with this Ukranian lol.

Oh for sure. Seems a no brainer.

So on another amp he’s got a label that says “Use 6L6 or 6P3S”

And yeah they all sound pretty fuggin’ decent too. Here is a gut shot of one of the builds. Non-labeled components but wiring looks solid and nothing looks fucky. For what you’re paying, it looks pretty damn ok…

That's what I was trying to think of. The 6p3s version... I've seen them on ebay quite alot for less than a standard 6l6 or 5881.

I was surprised by clips... I'm assuming it has to sound even better in person because... clips....

Yep. He’s using a Torpedo Captor and some IR’s in the clips.

6P3S is the military version of the Sovtek Wafer bottom 5881s, same as Soldano used to ship new SLOs with. Great tube. The non welded plates are best if you can find them. In my old C+ Coliseum they killed....not quite as good as all 415s, but not far off.
