I was just doing some heavy riffing on Channel 3 of my VH4:

Gain: 1:00
Volume: 9:00
Treble: 12:00
Mid: 3:00
Bass: 12:00
Deep: 2:00
Master: 1:00 !!!!

and LITERALLY small pieces of wood in one of the beams on my ceiling came falling down every time I hit a palm mute. It was awesome.

Maybe I'm already deaf, but I had my VH4 volume 11:00, master 2:00 & had no earplugs. Of course it was a 4x12 though & I wasn't standing in front of the cabinet.

Channel 3 volume at 9:00 and master at 1:00 with the gain up past noon is most certainly in the territory of ear damage; well over 120db within 10-15 feet of the cab.

Hell, I play my Herbert 12/12 with no ear plugs too/4z12. And the 100wt Einstein 12v, 2m/1x12. That said the rooms are pretty large.
