Just got mine today, ordered it with el34 tubes and I'm really getting lost with how to set
the global volume and presence controls as opposed to the 2nd channel presence and volume,
I'm trying to go for the classic big midrangy uber tone, keep in mind I'm playing at home through an orange 1X12 cab.

I tried to dial in the 2nd channel to sound like the tone merchants demo crunch tone and it didnt sound anywhere like it, if anyone here has any advice for dialing this channel for that kinda tone in low volume let me know.

Also, unless I'm really cranking the depth knob it seems like channel 1 always stays super bright?
How do you dial a decent clean tone out of it?

Thanks,
Daniel.

Well, first things first. The 1x12 cab is what it is...probably not ideal for an Uber, but I'd imagine you know this.

For a midrangey Channel 2 tone, try the mids at 1:30, bass at 1:30 and the treble to taste. I don't use the depth, as I feel the amp has enough bass as is. I set the presence to about 2:30 on the channel pres. and about 10:00 on the master pres. If you use depth, try backing off the preamp bass a bit from where I have mine. Presence and mids and even the treble control will affect midrange frequencies on this amp.

For Channel 1, if you want a darker tone, just experiment with the treble, presence and master presence. Also, I'd advise against cranking the depth control (or master pres. for that matter), as I feel it takes away from the tone of the amp when set at higher settings. I think it sounds most organic at 0 depth and has plenty of bass, but that's just me. You're running a 1x12, so my settings may only mean so much to you.

As for a clean tone, I just roll back on my volume or use a volume pedal...boom, 3 channel amp, with a 2nd channel that can do rhythms and leads...so, virtually 4 channels as far as I'm concerned.

Dude, you can't dial in a TJ with a cube speaker. No way in hell.

Got mine a couple days ago and in about 10 minutes I was dialed in and annoying the neighbors.

Thanks seven, I actually dialed in your settings and moved on from there and
I'm really enjoying it now (-:

It looks like on low volumes(at least) it sounds better with the channel's volume at around 6 o'clock, otherwise it starts to sound abit harsh, like I'm pushing the speaker too much maybe?

Btw, anyone knows why it says revision blue on the back? Quiet weird, saw it on other twin jet pics too.

The clean channel still really lacks bass, I think it may be a volume issue as well though,
I've been running the master on 6-7.

Anyone has any experience to share about the volume settings that works best for this amp when played on low volume?

I can't speak for the TJ (I have a Rev 2), but for low (TV) volume, I have mine set with the channel volume at 11 o'clock and the master at 8-9 o'clock.

Hey Ubers crush at loud volumes, but one thing the theydo very well also is sound outstanding at low volumes! Just a great all around series of amps...

The tone knobs are very interactive, and don't follow the topology of the earlier Ubers let alone more conventional amps imo. Just zero your mind and twist the knobs.

It's been said before and I'll say it again, the EQ controls are very counter intuitive.

But dude, slammin' that puppy into a 12" driver is just hurtin', we gotsta get you into at LEAST a 2x12.

Good luck!!
V.
