I spent most of the day with my new Forza Quattro recording chuggy rhythms for an album I am working on and I gotta say that it truly shines in a studio environment. For this particular project, the amp was full and beefy yet tight and controlled. Not too dry a la VHT nor as smooth as an Uber. I did some comparing to my Uber as I love how that amp records for this type of music. The Forza has a similar feel but it seems to be a bit punchier and slightly more percussive, in my opinion. This project contains a lot of palm muting and the Forza handled it wonderfully. In the parts that open up the Forza was clear and articulate. I am very stoked on the amp. The Forza's voice is familiar but it has it's own thing going on for sure.
I used the amp with it's counterpart (the DAR cabinet) and a vintage Mesa Recto cab. Each cab has a 57 and a Royer R121 on the top right speaker. The guitar used is a Gutierrez Juggernaut with EMGs. Mic Preamps include a pair of API 312s and a DW Fearn VT-2. The recording platform is Pro Tools with a sample rate of 88.2 KHz. Enough of the tech nonsense. Sounds fabulous.
Below is a link to download a sample WAV for those of you interested. This is a raw clip with no treatment and the guitars have yet to be edited. I figure that this will give you an idea of what the amp sounds like, in this scenario, without any post work. Hopefully I will have some video soon! Enjoy!
