I am new here but I come seeking advice from DAR FBM owners.. If one would be kind enough to crawl out of the ruins.. I am the new owner (aka price inflator) of the most recent FBM which went up for sale.. My dilemma- I live in the states but the amp is coming from overseas.. I asked the seller about the fuses as most gear I purchase from overseas requires different fuses for use on 115v. The seller’s response:

“I've checked the mains fuse and it's a T10H with 10 ampere so it should work easy with 115V and the plate fuse is T5AH and will certainly work too without any issues.”

Is this sound advice? I figured if anyone would know it would be this community. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does it say 10A and 5A for 115V?

I think the power supply is a switch mode supply in these. You’d have to pull the chassis and give me a model number off of the supply so that we can recommend a properly rated fuse.

If that’s not the case and it’s not also clearly marked externally, I’d probably need it on my bench to do a current measurement under load.

Wow! Thats awesome, I would have never thought about looking at the model# on the supply! This is one piece of gear that was unfortunately never labeled externally.. Worst case- I’ll see if I can pull the chassis & get you that number.

I cannot believe such a well engineered piece of gear doesn’t have something as basic as fuse rating markings for a given wall voltage. No way I’d let anything like that go out the door - you’re very correct to be worried about having the wrong rated fuses as it’s a definite fire hazard should something go immensely wrong especially on something as complex as this is.

My thoughts exactly.. As you can imagine I don’t even want to plug it in until I know it’s getting the proper voltage. Whereabouts are you located? It would be nice to have a contact who is confident to work on this monster if ever needed down the line. Everybody needs a good tech!
