Any Chastain or CJSS fans here? He was my favorite of the 80s shredders. I wore out my Mystery of Illusion record. His singer Leather had a cool voice.

I like alot of his tunes. The 7th of Never is probably my favorite. We used to go to Bogarts and see him all the time. My old band opened for him a few times too. Interesting tone out of those Lab series amps too.

We`re resilient, we`ll defy, the evil cast upon us!!

I like some of his tunes as well. Leather Leone was a cool female rock singer. I still have the 7th of never on vinyl in the attic :D

I saw him live a long time ago during the 7th of never tour. I had front row at a small club and he handed me a pick in the middle of one of his songs. Really cool! I liked him at the time, but I just listened to him again and I'm less impressed. Just listened so an album called Instrumental Variations and he sounded extremely sloppy and sounds like he's trying to play faster than he really can. Like Rusty Cooley?

As with anything, and this is just my opinion ,but I think that David was one of the worst guitarists that I heard back in the day. I think that he is one of those guys who has a great work ethic and he put out a lot of albums because of it but IMHO he is really bad.

Im glad that people dig him and that's cool! Hell Im sure that I like guitar players that others do not, but I just don't dig him at all.

I think the Chastain CD called "For Those Who Dare" was chock full of some great heavy metal riffs and decent soloing. Waiting for it to be released on CD again :aww: I have nothing to play cassettes on.

Well put. You're right about the work ethic. Back in the '80's wasn't he with two bands? CJSS and Chastain? When I saw him in 1985 or something, he had a set with his band and then a set with the woman (leather something?). I really liked his early stuff but haven't followed him for years...and then I stumbled upon that weird video with the big breasted Hetfield.

i saw him in the late 80's and was not my cup of tea , actually i thought the compositions, tone and playing was not that good...sorry, IMO...i mean compared to the calliber of Vinnie Moore, MacAlpine, Howe at that period, its no contest.

:hys:
the guy was a 'mo!

When I lived in Cincinnati, OH (back in the 90's) I remember him playing shows all of the time. I think the dude (and his band) that co-owned the music shop that my band got its gear from used to play shows with Chastain. Other than that, I don't know...
