Goodafternoon everybody,

I bought myself a secondhand Diezel VH4-s in february and enjoyed playing it a lot the last couple of months. Last tuesday i switched it on, it hummed a bit for a second or two and then, PATS, stopped working.
Now when i try to switch it on, it doesn't do anything, so i presume it is something in the power supply that broke down.
Is there anything like a fuse for the power supply? Or does anybody know a good head repair shop in the west of Holland, near Rotterdam?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Martijn

Check he fuse(s) inside.
You need to uncover the amp and turn it upside down. The same procedure as you would change new power amp tubes and bias them.

I wonder what is the reason why the fuse has blown. Maybe Peter or someone else who is more qualified as amp tech may comment this.

Did you have your speaker connections loaded? How is the electricity in the place used it back then?

Hey thanks for your quick answer! I have to say, we have only 1 power socket in our rehearsal room (with 2 outlets). From there we subdivide it towards the 3 amps, and their effectboxes.

I was already wondering whether that might be the problem, or maybe a power peak on the electrical network or whatever. Problem is, i am not exactly an electrical engineer. I read a couple of times that the disassembly of a tube amplifier may yield some black fingers. You think checking the fuse by removing the cover is a job that can be done easily?

Cheers man!

If you don't know what you're doing you should take it to a tech. Most likely the fuse has blown because a tube is bad, this is to protect the amp.

In Delft near Rotterdam in Holland. I am in contact at the moment with a guy called Dr. Tube in Berkel en Rodenrijs. You know him by any chance or have a better option?

Thanks for the effort,
Martijn

this is his website, also available in English:

www.drtube.nl

I know....the name....but hey, he says he heals tube amps...

Hi Peter,

Thanks, for the offer. Could you send me a personal message to mvroermund@gmail.com to discuss the costs involved? Is it possible to, besides the repair, also give the head a general overhaul?

Thanks once more,
Martijn

Hi Martijn, good to see a kasekopf with a Diezel. I own the mono version, the VH4.

Wich band do you play in?

I dropped of a Marshall's to my amp tech today. He had a VH4S there waiting to be picked up, so I asked him about it. He said it's a great amp, but it runs really hot. He replaced two filter caps in it. Said they got cooked from the heat. He also installed a fan in it to keep it cooler. Said he's retubed it a couple of times over the years. It certainly looked like it had seen a lot of stage use.

@kill division:

I play in Johnson's Legacy, from Delft. We have a website, if you want to check it out I can pm you. (removed link).

@itsme:

Thanks for poiting out. Certainly something to look after. I have sent my amp to mr. Diezel last week and it has already been fixed. Tomorrow it will be sent back to Holland. O yeah!

see you all,
Martijn
