Delay into front of Twin Jet

I took my TJ over to a buddies house yesterday and we have a fun amp day. I was amazed at how good the Nova Delay sounded in front of the TJ, no harsh artifacts, it sounded great.

I have a Strymon dTape on the way, if it sounds this good or better in front I may not buy a Mini Mix or use a W/D/W system at all, the delay was the only pedal going in the loop. I have a feeling from Pete Thorns demo the dTape will sound great in front of this amp.... Simplicity and great tone, hard to deny!!

are you using it also for the lead sound? or just for cleans?

I had never planned to use a delay in front of the amp for any sounds, but figured clean would sound okay since no gain was used. I had a Strymon dTape on the way to use in the loop and not even in the serial loop, I was getting a Suhr Mini Mix II to make the Bogner loop parallel as I did not like the serial loops tone loss.

I cannot comment on the Strymon yet as I have not received, but with it being more of a tape type delay I have a feeling it will sound even better in front.

To answer your initial question clean and full on driven, both sounded great. Here is Pete Thorn playing the Strymon in front of the Marsha Dirty. Sounds good here also, but the Nova System sounded even better than this in front of the TJ, so the Strymon should kill, at least I hope.

I have always hated delay in front of an amp when the dirt comes from the amp, so strange.

Tim,

If you need a Nova, I had one for sale on the classifieds. Not sure how far back it is. I can't see all the shit when I am playing, so I just went back to the pedal board with with the MXR for analog type delays and the a DD3 for harder hitting stuff. Its has a better thump.

The Nova you can run out in stereo though and sounds good, especially with the delays ping ponging and panning.

Steve,

Thanks a few days ago and I would have taken you up had I know this. I got the Strymon since I will be running in front and everybody stated it was sick sounding in front of a driven amp. So it is on it's way. If it does not work out I will check back with you on the Nova. I am keeping simple as well, since the delay will be in front all pedals will be in one nice looper box and a few clicks for anything I want, but mostly tone.... ;)

Fuck........that sounded too much good in front of the Marsha.

the tj is an amazing rig. people either love it or hate it but in my opinion its great
