Hi all, i have a diezel vh4 and herbert. I used to have a G system but it was just too complicated for my tastes and am going to a pedal setup. I'm trying to decide between a Keeley Modded Ibanez ad9 with expression pedal control vs. electroharmonix deluxe memory man.

Any thoughts or other recs?

Thanks!

Sounds like you have already made up your mind with the pedals. I used to be that way as well. However, I switched over to a Line6 M-13 footboard and haven't looked back! It's so simple and easy to use and it switches the channels on my Herbert as well. I run it via the 4 cable method and it works great and the effects are awesome on it!

+1 on the Deluxe Memory Man

I use it mostly as an echo for cleaner stuff with that sort of vintage vibe that this pedal can provide, it sounds really great to my ears. When I need a pure digital delay with accurate and clear repetitions I use a TC Electronic Nova Delay that I find perfect for this kinda applications; in this league I guess that the Eventide Timefactor is the winner but for my needs the Nova Delay is more than enough.

Cheers

How are you getting the M13 to switch the channels on your Herbert? I read through the MIDI implementation on the M13 and found it to be the most convoluted, contra-intuitive MIDI setup I've ever encountered.

Care to share?

Oh, and for the record, I'm finding the BOSS DD-20 to be an EXTREMELY versatile pedal. I'm using the "Modulated" delay feature to serve in the place of chorus, so now it's really the only effects pedal I need in the loop.

Cheers,

i´m using a analog delay (excalibur) in the channel insert of channel 4 with my vh4 for the leads, works great.
i think a mxr carbon copy would also be great in the channel insert.

I own a T-Rex Replica, which is use with my Einy head and really like it.

No no no....The M13 was dead easy! You have to set it up on Scenes. I made sure to put the M13 into latched mode (from what I recalled) and then put the M13 into whatever scene I was using....example....I created a scene called clean - I set up all of the effects I needed and then made sure the amp was on channel one and then clicked the midi learn button on the Herbert and bingo! Works. So easy! All of my scenes switch channels of the amp and I can turn on any of the effects I need for each scene or have them pre-set to come on. Never had it so easy before!

:)

This is how I felt about the G-system. Now that is complicated.

I run my Carbon Copy through the switchable loop on my Herbert and LOVE how it sounds. YMMV

Hardwire DL-8, awesome, easy to use pedal!! I use it with all of my amps, works great in front and sounds great thru the loop of my VH4S.
