Anyone know any scoop on the silent recording out in the Rebel 30? Is it just a line out like some amps, hence still requiring a cabinet simulator, or does it also have a built in cabinet simulator so that it can go directly into DAW/mic pre?

Thanks
Rick

Im assuming its very close if not identical to the Mic Eliminator Bruce did for Randall, which simulates optimal mic placement of a 57 on a V30.

Yeah, its more than just a line out. It's definitely mic/cabinet emulated.

If it's anything like the Randall one, it's pretty darn good. WAY better than the Behringer Ultra-G box that I had. that unit was very fuzzy.

I found the Randall Mic Eliminator to be somewhat dark and bassy, but I'd MUCH rather start with that tone, and add a few highs and a low-cut, rather than try to dial out fizz.

The "Record out" is a cabinet simulated signal that sounds much like the mic eliminator. The record out is always active whether using the live speaker outputs or the internal load that turns off the speaker for silent recording.

I'll try to do a clip tomorrow if I have time...

I'll try to do a few seconds with a mic'd up V30, and then one with the Mic Eliminator. Solo'd, and in a mix.
