What are going to be the sound differences between the 412R vs. 412F? What would be better suited for metal? Isnt the 412R better for tight bass response? THanks -Shane

It's the other way round. The frontloaded cab is a lot tighter and more focused. It really depends on the style of music and the amp which cab you might like better.
With my VH4 I didn't like the rearloaded at all but the frontloaded totally blew me away. When I heard the Herbert throught a rearloaded cab It sounded very good, though. In the end it's all a matter of taste.
For metal I would recommend a frontloaded either with G12K100 or with a mix of Vintage 30 and G12K100. The pure Vintage 30 cab, at least to my ears, had way to much midrange and and wasn't as defined as the G12K100 and mixed cab.

By the way, do some research at the boards, there you'll lots of threads about the cabs ;)

Thanks for the info. Im looking to buy a Herbert and ive heard it sounds the best with the diezel cabs. What did you like better about the 412R on the her? Thanks for you help. Ill do a search and see what else I can find. Sucks not being able to find a place to play these in my area theyre all sold out  -Shane

The Herbert and rearloaded cab just seamed to work better together. I can't really explain why and what I liked better about the sound. It's that fealing that an amp and cab compliment each other and at least for my taste the VH4 and rearloaded cab simply didn't match.
I'm sorry that I can't explain it better.
