Hello,

I've heard that certain Diezel amps can run different sets of power tubes at the same time. An example would be on the Herbert, you can have a duet of EL-34s, a Duet of 6L6's and a Duet of Kt-88's all running at the same time.

With the 3 different tube types running at the same time, are they asigned to a certain channel? Can the 1st channel run just using the 6l6's, while the 2nd channel just runs with EL-34's and the 3rd channel just runs with Kt-88's? Also, if this is possible, would you have the same amount of volume or decibel output between the 3 channels?

If not, is there a mod that could be done to do this or is this something that is not realistic?

I've seen on an egnater that they have a blend feature where you can blend the 6l6's with the EL-34's, but they can not be channel asignable.

Thanks and Best Regards

All channels run all 6 power tubes. If you have 3 different sets of power tubes they will run all at the same time.

I am not tech savvy enough to answer the second part of your question, but my opinion is that even if it were possible it would likely not be worth the time and money to do so.

I'm sure someone some where MIGHT be able to make what your asking possible with the herbert, however; I think it would be a complex mod if I had to guess... As it stands now it runs all of them as ONE power section and these are not assignable or switchable.

If your looking for switchable power tubes you can check out the Randall Power amp I think it's the RT2/50 or something like that, anyway, you can have 6L6' and EL34's in there and switch between the two via selectable channels I do believe. So with a set of Egnater modules (or randall) you can run all the mods with either power tube.

I just don't see this happening with a Diezel amp as it wasn't even remotely considered in the initial design as far as I can imagine.
