Hey guys got a used but in mint condition Diezel 4x12 with V30's for the VH4S. What I find is that the Boogie is major Bottom end and the Diezel is major sharp and defining tone wise.    Great combination. I think the Diezel cab is front loaded? (Back is sealed off...Peter??)

A quick question is what tone-wise is the difference between the front and rear loaded Diezel cabs.

I tried to capture it on my digicam, but my sound sucks. Getting a nice cam corder soon so I'll mic them next vids. :)

I, too, would like to know the difference in sound between a front and rear loaded cab.

Hi Sean,

The difference between frontloaded and rearloaded is so big ;) :D ..
That one, you have, is rearloaded, the frontloaded ones are black ones. That one you have, is in my taste so close to old Marshall cabinets in sound, but can handle the bass of VH4 and Herbert amps, this rearloaded cabinet is perfect for singlecoils in my taste, the front loaded cabinet, in my oppinion is the best cab I ever heared. I was with my VH4 by Peter Diezel in Bad Steben months ago, because there was a porblem on my VH4. By the way, Peter is the BEST man in this way ever... proffesional and helpful with everything. So I tried out his fronloaded and rearloaded cabs with Vintage 30 there too....The front loaded is absolutely best articulately cabinet I ever heared, no muddy bass that in my taste Mesa have( try to put your deep on VH4 all the way up with your Mesa, I think you can´t, but with frontloaded Diezel you can, and the sound is not muddy at all :) ), Myabe Soldano cabs are so good too, I heared something about them, but had no chance to try one out. I like band called Muse from Britain and Matt, their guitarist uses two Diezel VH4 but the Soldano cabinet with V30 for live..so maybe it is only on his taste, but he uses Soldano,( but not the new one Soldanos with Eminence..the old one with Vintage 30)..
I was trying Mesa Standard cab with my VH4 too, but in my taste, there was a bit of Mesa Sound, that I had when I had Dual Recto..
I think, that every one amp manufacturer do their cabs exactly for their amps, so for Mesa is best cab Mesa and if you have diezel go with Diezel. Its simply I think, every amp has its own sound spectrum and for every kind of amp, its different, so the cabinets are made in the same philosophy like the amp was made, to work together in the best way..
So my advise, try Front loaded Cabinet with Vintage 30, and I think, you´ll give your Mesa away than ;)

Hey thanks for the Feedback! Yeah for now I am happy with the rig set up and plus in NYC it is tough to find Diezel Cabs. I only got this one used but mint off craigslist. :) yeah right now the 2 cabs make a nice balance until down the road I can find a front loaded Diezel Cab :)

But the combo of the 2 cabs, really made the Diezekl VH4 come much more articulate. It just sounds so full, thick, bottom, but with very nice clarity. And the cleans with the chorus pedal are insane.

I must also mention my VH4S is moded with EL34's and biased so maybe that is why also it sounds different than a normal VH4S(which I dunno I never heard one) when I got it, I sold my VH4 and felt with the EL34's the VH4S sounded just like the VH4

Wait a minute. If your Diezel cab is sealed off in the back, it must be front loaded, regardless of the grill colour. I had a regular rear loaded Diezel 4x12 years ago and that had a typical screwed in back panel.

It wouldn't be hard to replace the grill on a front loaded, as I think they're held in place via velcro, ala VHT cabs.
