Hi Sean,
The difference between frontloaded and rearloaded is so big
..
That one, you have, is rearloaded, the frontloaded ones are black ones. That one you have, is in my taste so close to old Marshall cabinets in sound, but can handle the bass of VH4 and Herbert amps, this rearloaded cabinet is perfect for singlecoils in my taste, the front loaded cabinet, in my oppinion is the best cab I ever heared. I was with my VH4 by Peter Diezel in Bad Steben months ago, because there was a porblem on my VH4. By the way, Peter is the BEST man in this way ever... proffesional and helpful with everything. So I tried out his fronloaded and rearloaded cabs with Vintage 30 there too....The front loaded is absolutely best articulately cabinet I ever heared, no muddy bass that in my taste Mesa have( try to put your deep on VH4 all the way up with your Mesa, I think you can´t, but with frontloaded Diezel you can, and the sound is not muddy at all
), Myabe Soldano cabs are so good too, I heared something about them, but had no chance to try one out. I like band called Muse from Britain and Matt, their guitarist uses two Diezel VH4 but the Soldano cabinet with V30 for live..so maybe it is only on his taste, but he uses Soldano,( but not the new one Soldanos with Eminence..the old one with Vintage 30)..
I was trying Mesa Standard cab with my VH4 too, but in my taste, there was a bit of Mesa Sound, that I had when I had Dual Recto..
I think, that every one amp manufacturer do their cabs exactly for their amps, so for Mesa is best cab Mesa and if you have diezel go with Diezel. Its simply I think, every amp has its own sound spectrum and for every kind of amp, its different, so the cabinets are made in the same philosophy like the amp was made, to work together in the best way..
So my advise, try Front loaded Cabinet with Vintage 30, and I think, you´ll give your Mesa away than
