Diezel cab problem

I bought a new Diezel front loaded 4x12 g12k100 cab and I'm having an issue. When I plug into the 8 ohm mono (all 4 speakers) input the tone is really trebley w/ almost no low end. When I play just one side of the cab at 16 ohms it sounds great and very full sounding. I've tried both the right and left sides of the cab at 16 ohms separately and they both sound killer but together at 8 ohms mono it sounds horrible. Any clue what the problem could be?

oops!
my advice would be:
remove the front of the cab, so that you have clear view on the speakers. plug in a speaker cable in the mono-in. next, get yourself a 9V battery and contact tip and ring of the opposite cable end --> you will hear a little creaking noise --> watch the speakers: they should all move the same way either in or out. if the left speakers move different than the right ones, you have a phasing problem. Then you will have to open the cab and change the polarity on the left or the right side. if using more than one cab, assure that the polarity is same on all cabs!
hope i could help,
cheers & good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I tried the 9v thing and sure enough when the right side speakers move out the left side speakers are moving in and vice versa. I have no idea how to change the polarity though or which side or speaker to reverse. Can anyone help me out?

I dont' know the answer, but I'm guessing you need to swap the + and - connections on one side of the connector. I imagine it should be an easy fix if you can get a wiring diagram. Take a look inside, you might be able to figure it out.

PM / email Peter D or Peter S to get the correct wiring information.

Till yesterday i played my Herbert and FL V30 Cab with 16 Ohm out into the "first" cab input. Was that wrong?
But all four speakers worked not only two?!
And yesterday i played the 8 ohm out in the same cab input and i thougt that it sounded thinner, too?!

Diezel cabs are 8ohm mono, so if you are playing a single cab then it should be in the 8ohm tap on the amp and in the left hand socket when facing the back of the cab.

Well ...... we will kill the guy at the QC.

I will contact my partner and cab guru Mr. Stapfer
to help You out.

@ dewd
good job. now you know, you got defenitely a phasing problem.
did you buy the cab new and are u able to move it to the store? if so they should be able to fix it for you.
the guys from diezel are very helpful, maybe they can help you out in a way.
otherwise, and with a little skill in soldering, you could make it yourself. if you`re using only one cab i guess it`s not so important at which cab-side you change the polarity. remove both speakers of any side: be shure to use some kind of table for the removed speakers because the connection cables inside the cab are not that long... and not to damage the speakers while removing. as i remember the upper speaker is connected by 4 cables and the lower by 2. thoose 2 of the lower one are connected to 2 of the 4 of the one above -> find those 2 cables and ignore them -> exchange the other 2 on the upper speaker (solder carefully).
check your work finally with the 9v battery again.
assemble the whole shit back together, plug in, turn to 11 and smile, bro
;-)

cheers, martin

Hah! You'd better hope he's not reading this forum or he won't show up for work tomorrow :)

Brad... S'UP?

Is this one of the "new re-designed" Diezel cabs?

PS: Bobba Fett's answer/fix above is spot on. All speakers with the battery applied should move in the same direction... ie in-phase.

:)

Yeah guys got it fixed up. It sounds AMAZING. I kind of thought I'd play through it, it would sound like my other Mesa/Bogner/VHT cabs (or maybe worse) and I would return it and get my money back (minus shipping of course ;)). There is no way in hell this thing is going back. I know there is a lot of internet hype about certain pieces of gear but this is one case where it is justified. These cabs are SICK! I'm just trying to find a way to fund another one now.

Thanks to boba fett for the help and 9V trick.

Thanks Terry at Diezel USA for taking the time and talking me through the fix on the phone for over a hour. It was nice talking with you and chatting about gear/music. Diezel is lucky to have this guy taking care of us U.S. customers.

Wizz - yeah this is the new cab. Check them out. IMO they are worth every penny even though that's a lot of pennies. :D

Ok, you mean the "inside" one of the two jacks, right?

 good to hear that!
the Diezel-cabs & the Diezel guys are strictly awesome.
but.. well, now i`m getting kinda jealous - mine is one of the older FL designs...hmm
I fear that I will have to scrape some moolah together now
