so finally got the Einstein today no broken tubes or damage by ups , extremely fortunate to catch him at my old address just on the off chance .

so what can i say that already hasn't been said about this powerful little box?

there's something sublime going on in the high gain lead ch 2, so lively and full but still maintaining to stay classic and not modern overkill . less compression than the fireball but far more fuller sounding and convincing .it almost feels that there's an overdrive or clean boost pushing this ch but there's not and if feels and sounds warm & natural .

i got a quick run on the clean ch , very nice indeed a lot more pristine and clearer than the engl i had previous .the suhr aldrich bridge is a little full on so obviously switching to the neck pickup really brings the finer nuances out in detail .

overdrive yet to try that out put bitch of a day were the only thing on my mind is getting my feet up and relaxing .so basically the short time ive spent with the Einstein has been very good indeed .the wee bugger with the 6550 tubes heats up like nobody's business u could literally fry egs on the grill plate . i can understand now why the chassis plate is extremely thick lol , will give a more detailed report when time presents itself to do so .

ps all in all big big step up from engls fb happy thus far .

the inner circuitry build standard makes the engl fireball look like a childs toy, extremely well made and left out .

I know exactly how you feel, I just got my VH4 this week and Its amazing. You have many happy days of tweaking ahead just like me. Nice to see someone else from Ireland on the forum.

This isn't the first report I've seen about 6550's running REALLY hot... I wonder why that is?? I mean, I know tubes get hot, and that 6550's tend to be a touch hotter than others sometimes, but wow! Fry eggs? Other reports are similar too. Interesting.

At any rate, congratulations!! I've got a Herbert and am looking to add either an Einstein or a VH4!

same here bro nice to see another irish guitarist on here, your down in dublin im way over the north in derry im sure u know it well ?congrats on your vh4 sir , that indeed is a very fine amp indeed im sure your roadking will take aback seat for a while ?

as far as the frying eggs quote thats excactly how hot these tubes get the back and front panel plate can get quite hot after 1hrs playing .

im noticing when i turn the einey on the bluelight flashes from master vol 2 and ends up on ch 1 i take it thats normal? i think my last amp had similar fashion that way .

ps ive actually found my sound for both ch's allready took me all of 30 mins playing lol .

can anyone tell me if the above is normal with the einstein the bluelight query ?

Awesome man , any time i play one of those in the store my amps at home start looking nervous

I would not worry about the heat issue these amps are designed to run hot, my VH4 is exactly as you describe your Einstein. Just make sure that theres plenty of air flow around the amp and it should be fine. What speakers are you running in your Engl cabinet, Im using an oversized recto cab but Im seriously considering getting one of the new Diezel cabs. Its great that you could dial your amp in so quickly and Im sure you will find many more great tones in the days and weeks to come.

P.s. Im sure someone on here will have an answer to your question about the lights

How ironic, i also went from a Fireball to an Einstein   Yeah its quite the upgrade thats for sure. Congrats on the new amp

And welcome to the family....

I believe the blue light flashing issue you reference is a normal behavior and part of the amp startup routine. My Herbert does something very similar. That said, I'm no expert and will defer to others who know for sure (Duolos, Peter, etc)

Thanks Guys.
