Hey Everyone,
My Einstein 100W head powered down during a recording session a few days ago due to a blown "Mains" fuse.. Assuming that this may have been caused by a slight surge in the studio, I replaced the fuse with the supplied spare and powered the amp back up, however, the fuse immediately blew and the amp powered down as soon as I switched it out of "Standby".
Now, after some general web-searching/research, I had come to the conclusion that this was likely due to power tube failure, however, all of my testing thus far seems to suggest otherwise..
Following the instructions in the "Fuses" PDF on the main Diezel website I have thus far tried:
i) Replacing the fuse and running the amp with all power tubes removed
ii) Replacing the fuse and running the amp with only the first pair of power tubes.
iii) Replacing the fuse and running the amp with only the second pair of power tubes.
Each of these tests garnered the same results: The amp powered up until removed from "Standby" mode; at which point the Mains fuse would blow and the amp would power down...
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thank you all for your time.
-Steve.
(Note: I have also checked both the "Outer" and "Inner" fuses repeatedly.. both have been checked/replaced in order to ensure no other obvious faults.)
