Dear all,

after reading some posts on Einstein midi switching I googled a bit and I came across the Vinteck TB5
Please visit http://www.vinteck.com/eng/ for more information. It has 4 controllable switches such that
I can switch all modes/channels/2master settings with it. It switch 4 loops (2effects loops and 2 serial loops)
and has a midi out. In order to have additional flexibility between the different modes of channel 1 I would
like to put a 50KOhm pot in the series loop that I can midi-switch in and out of this loop ...

Does anyone has experience with Vinteck items and does anyone knows of the box that I just described ...

Kind regards,

Jan

Hmm, it seems a bit expensive... On par with RJM, and I would probably choose that if I wanted a "fancier" switcher.

I think that you have several options. If it were me, and I was definitely using the Einstein's serial/parallel loop, I would go with the classic GCX Audio Loop Switcher/Ground Control Pro setup (maybe with a better buffer put in). You can run super short cables into the rack-mount loop switcher, and the Einstein will take up four of the eight loops, leaving you with four loops and midi for pedals/effects.

If you aren't using the Einstein's serial/parallel loops, then I would go with a MUSICOMLAB EFX MKII PEDAL LOOP SWITCHER. Its basically an all-in-one looper like the TB5, but with more loops and seemingly greater functionality from the research I've done (I don't know for sure, as I haven't tried either one...but I'm thinking about getting the MKII for myself), this would be a great option if you want everything on the floor and aren't running tons of cables back to your amp for the serial/parallel loop.

Hope that helps, or is even relevant to what you want. Where did you get the schematics for that type of switching with the Diezel? Thanks

Dear dass101 and Neuro,

Thanks for the reply ... but I have to disagree with you both :-) (I hope you do not mind)

RJM: MINI AMP GIZMO: can only switch the amp (8 switches of which I need only 4)
If I would like to switch effects on my pedalboard, I have to add RJM: effect GIZMO + midi-controller
and this would be much more expensive

The MUSICOMLAB MKII has only 2 switching channels ... I need 4

The voodoolab GCX can do everything I need but ... I need it on the floor with me to avoid many long cables, and
I expect it to be expensive too...

If I make mistakes here, please let me know ...

The VINTECK TB5 has the items that I need:
- 5 effects loops ( I need only 2 or 3)
- 4 programmable swicths for amps channel change: I need all 4, can make a cable that combines all 4 such that there will
be only on cable running to the Einstein that allows to switch channels1 and 2, modes 1-2-3, and the 2 masters
- 2 outs with programmable A/B control : with that option I can switch between amp and tuner ...

Neuro, wrt your question "Where did you get the schematics for that type of switching with the Diezel?" I have a
tubelit einstein road installed (see http://www.tubelit.com/) and this can also be controlled with midi-controlled
latching switches ...

Actually you could also consider the Musicomlab EFX MKII and switch the mini Amp Gizmo via midi (The EFX MKII is a midi controller as well). I have an EFX MKII (will probably be getting rid of it as I think I am going a different direction) and have tested it and it is a great switcher, midi controller, etc. There is a ton of functionality packed into a small box for sure. From what I have read the audio loops and buffers are excellent as well.

The one drawback (kind of) is the fact that the EFX MKII does not provide power for the pedals so you would also need a solution for that.

I just looked at the VINTECK TB5 and it looks like a great unit as well and if it fits what you are doing better well then....

Good luck!

I was reffering to the RJM Effect Gyzmo or the RG-16. Both units can do loop switching AND channel switching. Check them out ;)

I think they are better than GCP/GCX because the programming is done on the unit itself, not the controller, and you can access it through Program Changes. I's a better solution especially if you own a MIDI footcontroller, the GCX with a third party controller is a bit tricky to program.
