I keep seeing owners of either switching between the two for some reason. If you made the switch which one did you end up with? I am really happy with the M90 at the moment but I still want to try out a Diezel for some odd reason, its like a disease

I hear you, I've got a Herbert and love it, but I really want to check out the Elmwoods. The M60 intrigues me more than the M90 because of the el34's, kt88's don't please me. The Larry Dino has really got me interested too, but the price will probably keep me away.

I have an Einstein, does that count?

I have really wanted to try out/pick up an M60.

Too bad I'm a broke nearly college student .

:D It gets better, I just graduated from College last year and Now I can buy crap I never thought I would ever own. Plus I am pretty much debt free now, aside from the recent gear purchases

Yeah I saw you just picked up two new amps. Hopefully after all is said and done, in like 7 years or so I can be living like a king.

Oh well, back to despising High School.

There is no switching from Herbert for me.

It's simple, get both!

I've been wondering the same thing myself. I have Herbie, but am wanting to try the Elmwood M90 to see what they are all about. Have a feeling I wouldn't like it as much. The clips don't sound bad but I haven't heard any clips online that sound better than the Herbert does. Maybe because they are being played on computer speakers??? Threw my Herbert up for sale to jump on a deal on an M90 that I found, but if she doesn't sell soon, reason will probably kick in and I'll just hold off.

I am in the opposite boat as you haha, I think the M90 sounds killer but the herbert clips I found sounded too compressed for my tastes  But I still want to try it out hearing all the good things about it!

I found the M90 to be too compressed for me. The high gain was very nice but that was it. I thought the cleans were mediocre. The Herbert has better cleans, great crunch, and the very saturated and compressed lead channel plus the mid cut. It's got alot more to offer than the M90. Plus, I just did not get that massive tone out of the Elmwood like I did with my Einstein. It just does not have much 'whomp' to it like a Diezel does. It's only two kt88s in the power section.

I would love to check out the M60 as those are chimy, less compressed cleans and nice boosted cleans as well, but imo, the Elmwoods are way overpriced for what you get. I paid 3600 for the M90. To me, I would only pay 2 grand for one now that I have owned it and played it for 6 months. I traded it for an Engl Invader 100 plus 1000 cash and I like the Engl more, so I got a good deal selling it.

I've had quite a few people tell me I was nuts for giving up the Herbie to try an Elmwood. Only had two people tell me they like the Elmwood better. Looks like my Uberschall may end up selling by accident (posting pics of the Herbie and a couple of shots of the Uber were in there). Might be able to keep Herbie and pick up an Elmwood by throwing in a little cash. I really think at least for my tastes that I'll probably end up regretting letting my Herbert go for an M90. Herbie with some KT88s sounds like the thunder of God.

Cool! Let me know how it goes when you A/B it :)

I don't know, the longer the day goes on here, the more I'm wondering about doing it. I really just wanted to trade out the Herbie for the M90 and sell the M90 for another Herbert if it didn't stroke me right...

Any M90 owners out there interested in a swap???
Any M90 owners in Wisconsin or Illinois willing to let me come over and hear it?

Thanks
